Orochimaru raced through the woods with a grim expression, occasionally looking back to check behind him.
He had been certain of victory in his close-quarters fight with Danzo, but at the critical moment, a Sharingan had suddenly appeared on Danzo's arm. Caught off guard, he had fallen under Sharingan Genjutsu for half a second.
In a battle between ninja, half a second was enough to do a great deal. Danzo had seriously wounded him and taken the test subject who had adapted to Hashirama cells.
He had undoubtedly come off worse in this clash with Danzo, but he had not lost!
Once he reached a relatively safe spot and confirmed that no one was pursuing him, Orochimaru bit his finger and slapped his hand against the ground, summoning a number of venomous snakes.
After carefully checking the snakes, Orochimaru's expression shifted between anger and uncertainty.
One of the flesh samples he had ordered the snakes to bite off was missing. That meant someone had attacked his summoning beasts, but he had no way of knowing who.
Taking the lesson to heart, Orochimaru retrieved the flesh samples and placed them in a culture medium. With these samples, he might be able to obtain data on the test subject who had adapted to Hashirama cells.
Once he had finished, Orochimaru leaped into the treetops. With his eyesight, he could easily make out the statues on the distant Kage Rock.
After looking at them for a moment, Orochimaru packed his things and prepared to return to the village. During his escape, he had spotted numerous ANBU and taken detours around them.
As one of the Sannin, he had no fear of the village's ANBU.
But after such a major disturbance, the Hokage was bound to learn of his secret Human Experimentation.
