It was a photo of Cynthia, Garchomp, and Jangmo-o together.
In the picture, Cynthia smiled and held up a peace sign, her other arm cradling a little Pokémon that stood on all fours, its body covered in scales of varying sizes.
The huge, golden, heart-shaped scale on its head was particularly eye-catching.
That distinctive feature was precisely what gave Jangmo-o its Chinese name.
(Jangmo-o-I've always thought this was the cutest dragon.)
Beside Cynthia, Garchomp stood with crossed arms, looking stern and impatient, as though trying to intimidate someone on the other side of the screen.
"Surely that wasn't aimed at me..."
The corner of Qingyu's mouth twitched, but he paid those details no mind.
His attention was focused mainly on the Jangmo-o in Cynthia's arms.
As a "late-blooming Pokémon" that had first appeared in Pokémon Sun and Moon, Jangmo-o was considerably easier to raise than its predecessors from earlier generations.
At level 45, it could reach its second evolution and become Kommo-o, nicknamed the "Fighting Dragon."
Although levels weren't a reference point in reality, they still provided a rough comparison. For a Champion, the training process would naturally be very quick.
Cynthia was already an expert at raising pseudo-legendaries. She had raised Gible from birth, so this was right in her wheelhouse.
Still, since this was a prospective core team member for the Dragon-type Masters Tournament, every aspect of the choice deserved consideration.

The Fighting Dragon family had three Abilities: Bulletproof, Soundproof, and Overcoat. All leaned toward defense, with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Soundproof's effect was to block sound-based moves.
Since sound-based moves could bypass a substitute and hit the Pokémon itself, this Ability offered pretty solid protection.
