"Since the challenger's Corviknight is unable to battle, the winner of this Gym battle is Gym Leader Qingyu!"
Nemona appeared right on cue to announce the verdict, feeling sorry for the little challenger at the same time.
She was so close. What a shame.
Though everything that happened in that battle was probably just as Mr. Qingyu expected. Maybe she never had a chance of winning at all...
Nemona kept feeling that the students' earlier negative reviews had gotten under Qingyu's skin, which was why he had brought out such a nasty strategy this week.
Against a Glimmora that was practically an iron fortress, getting carelessly corroded by its venom would all but decide the outcome of the battle.
"Is sunshine only in your gym's name?"
Nemona suddenly recalled a comment she had seen on the League App two days earlier.
At this rate, that might actually become true before long!
"Thanks for the hard work, Glimmora."
After recalling Glimmora, Qingyu breathed a sigh of relief as well.
He had not expected it to turn into a drawn-out contest of endurance.
Looks like even though Glimmora is popular in Paldea, it isn't quite suited to this strategy. It's better off quickly scattering spikes everywhere with Toxic Debris in a six-on-six battle...
Still, Glimmora was only serving as an examiner for the Gym challenge.
If I actually brought out a Toxapex that could sustain itself endlessly with Recover, the students challenging me next would probably leave more bad reviews...
Just thinking about that annoyed Qingyu.
If you're bad, practice more. If you can't handle losing, don't play!
Of course, that was absolutely not why Qingyu had chosen Glimmora as this week's examiner.
He simply felt that making opponents think about how to break out of an unfavorable situation demonstrated their skill
