When it came to Mega Evolution, the first Pokémon Qingyu thought of were actually Hoenn's three Legendary Pokémon...
Strictly speaking, Kyogre and Groudon didn't undergo Mega Evolution, but the more unusual phenomenon of Primal Reversion. Rayquaza's Mega Evolution couldn't be measured against the standard process either.
Still, it clearly seemed unlikely that he would get to see Hoenn's three stooges in the Pokémon world's games.
On the flip side, a certain Comeback Pokémon that had the highest Physical Attack base stat after evolving, yet practically no usable moves in battle, had also dodged a bullet.
Aside from those memorable Legendary Pokémon, powerhouses like Gengar, Kangaskhan, and Salamence were every bit as formidable, even forming entire strategies around themselves.
Take the legendary Los Angeles Team, for example. It had already begun to come into its own during the Black and White generation. Once Mega Evolution arrived, it gained the final piece of its championship puzzle and earned the fearsome reputation of "even my grandma could hit 1800 with this."
Unfortunately, for the same reason as Hoenn's three stooges, Qingyu wouldn't get the chance to use that numerically unstoppable Cold-Blooded Team lineup either.
So, among the Pokémon that had Mega Evolutions, were there any other interesting options?
There sure were, folks.
Qingyu's gaze soon settled on an incredibly famous Pokémon.
Charizard!
(Base-form Charizard)
As a Starter Pokémon introduced in the very first generation, and an undisputed mainstay of Ash's team in the Original Series that filled countless childhood memories, good old Charizard had been immensely popular in Qingyu's previous life.
Generally, most early Pokémon had suffered from power creep to varying degrees, gradually fading from Trainers' sight as stronger Pokémon appeared.
But Charizard clearly wasn't among them.
