After the first batch of students tested out the lineup, word of the new Gym team Qingyu had added this week quickly spread through Naranja Academy.
Pelipper plus Palafin-a distinctly Paldean pair of Rain Brothers. They didn't look particularly difficult to deal with.
After all, both Palafin and Pelipper feared Electric-type moves. There was no need to wrest control of the rain from Teacher Yu; a single Thunder in the rain could easily deal devastating damage.
Even if the little Eject Button item saved time and let Palafin quickly complete its Zero to Hero transformation, that type disadvantage was still extremely difficult to overcome.
And so, the next day, a young boy successfully defeated Teacher Yu with Pawmot, earning the students' first Gym Badge of the week.
With someone having blazed the trail, the other students immediately followed suit. Every novice with an Electric-type Pokémon on their team wanted to try their luck.
After all, no one could predict how difficult Sunshine Gym's assessment would be. If they didn't seize this opportunity to get a Badge, who knew whether an even more diabolical lineup might appear later, one they couldn't beat no matter how hard they racked their brains...

There were quite a few Electric-type Pokémon, and they were relatively easy to raise. With adorable creatures like the Electric Mouse family among them, they were hugely popular with novice Trainers, so plenty of students met the requirements.
However, once they arrived at Sunshine Gym to challenge it themselves, they soon discovered-
"Oh no, we've been had!"
Now that his tactics had been figured out, how could Qingyu possibly have overlooked such an obvious flaw?
And so, his tactics quickly underwent another change.
The solution was simple, too.
