Faced with the raging flames Torkoal spewed under Sunny Day, even Duraludon, a Steel/Dragon type that actually had little to fear from fire, instinctively tensed up, doing its best to withstand its teammate's attack.
But Duraludon soon realized-
The searing heat it expected to engulf its body never came, and its body seemed to be undergoing some wondrous change.
Was its metal shell slowing the transfer of heat?
After waiting a while, Duraludon cautiously narrowed its eyes, peering through a slit.
Just then, the Evolutionary Glow that signified a breakthrough in its abilities abruptly vanished, and "Duraludon" noticed the stunned look on its Trainer's face.
Come to think of it...
Had its viewpoint gotten a little higher, or had its Trainer and that opposing human gotten shorter?
With that curiosity in mind, "Duraludon" instinctively looked down at its body.
Then it froze in astonishment.
???
Its once plain metal shell seemed to have gained a protective layer of blue, high-density metal, completely enclosing its abdomen while also forming a masklike structure over its face.
Its formerly short, thin arms extended from its sides, now thick and flexible. Electricity occasionally crackled at the ends of its hands and feet, as though it were absorbing static electricity from the ground and air.

"Luca..."
As Qingyu's assistant in this plan, Lucario watched the newly evolved giant warily.
The physical changes were secondary. Its strength seemed to have taken a qualitative leap after evolving, and even its Aura had become more dangerous.
If it used that power called "Gigantamax" again after evolving, Lucario probably wouldn't be able to defeat it even with everything it had.
Looks like a rare, worthy opponent-one I can take off all my weights and fight with everything I've got!
"It... really did evolve!"
