Qingyu's smile gradually twisted.
Far away in the Sinnoh Region, Flint wore a rather intriguing expression.
"What the hell is this?"
Flint was dumbfounded and instinctively turned to Lucian.
Back when they attended Pokémon School, this guy had always been the academic whiz.
If there was something you didn't know, asking him was a safe bet.
"..."
Lucian instinctively turned his head away.
You're asking me about this?
I've never seen it either!
Any teacher who dared teach this at school would get kicked out by the students tomorrow, desk and all...
"Ha, haha..."
Aaron, standing off to the side, was clearly shaken too.
After using Minimize, Chansey wasn't merely a nuisance because it was hard to hit.
Even when Flint commanded Infernape to use the guaranteed-hit moves Aerial Ace and Aura Sphere, they still struggled to inflict any meaningful damage.
After chipping away for ages, Infernape was starting to pant.
Then Chansey gulped down a little egg from its pouch and was instantly bouncing around again...
"Looks like a Trainer with a very distinctive personal style."
"But could anyone really use this strategy in person?"
Wouldn't someone beat him up in real life?
And how had he even practiced a friendship-ending strategy like this?
Three questions ran through Aaron's bewildered mind.
"Sure, they can't hit Chansey now, but how's he going to win?"
That question needed no answer.
Chansey had already begun to move.
"Chansey, Seismic Toss!"
Having shrunk to a fraction of its original size, Chansey was almost impossible to spot on-screen, so neither Flint nor Infernape was prepared for its approach.
Then Infernape suddenly felt an incredible force and was hurled backward into the air.
There was no chance to react at all.
After being hoisted up and tossed several times in succession, even Infernape's sturdy physique couldn't take any more.
The helplessly raging Blaze that flared before it fell was its final act of defiance.
"I can't fight this! How am I supposed to play?"
Flint messed up the hair he had so carefully styled before leaving home, his frustration mounting.
Following Infernape, the second victim, Arcanine, was soon beaten unconscious by Chansey too.
"No, you still have a chance!"
Just as Flint was one step away from surrendering, Aaron spoke up and stopped him.
"Don't forget your Rapidash! Hurry, try your luck with the one that has Flame Body!"
Aaron's reminder finally snapped Flint out of the daze this torment had left him in.
Pokémon with Flame Body had a chance of burning opponents that made contact with them.
That might give him a chance.
"Right! I choose you, Rapidash!"
Flint issued another command.
However...
"Chansey, Toxic!"
Qingyu's enthusiastic voice rang out from the livestream.
Knowing which Fire-type Pokémon had Flame Body and which had Flash Fire was basic knowledge. That wasn't going to stump him.
Besides, who said Seismic Toss was Chansey's only attacking move?
A mouthful of highly poisonous purple liquid shot out. After Rapidash was hit, its skin soon took on a sickly, corroded hue.
Once badly poisoned, Rapidash's remaining stamina was on a countdown.
"Hiss..."
This time, it was Lucian's turn to suck in a sharp breath.
Although he might have been the only one present who had anticipated that this opponent was no pushover, even he hadn't imagined the guy's strategy could be this shameless.
Who would want to battle you if you played like this?
At the very least, he absolutely refused to battle this "Azure Feather"...
When someone was speechless, they really were speechless.
Flint's expression had become almost numb. Even Rapidash's collapse failed to stir the slightest emotion in him.
"I knew it. I should've just done it earlier."
There was actually an even faster option than surrendering-
Pull the plug!
[Your opponent has disconnected. You win automatically!]
"He disconnected?"
Qingyu scratched his head. He hadn't had his fill yet.
He rarely got a chance to openly play a "giving back to society" strategy like this. Why did his opponents always refuse to finish a match with him?
What an impatient bunch!
Still, he had probably demonstrated pretty much everything Chansey needed to show. He wondered how much Nurse Joy had seen.
"Is Nurse Joy watching the stream? This strategy shouldn't be too hard to learn, right?"
Qingyu asked casually, and the livestream chat immediately started having fun.
[111, I'm Nurse Joy. Your lesson was very useful, Streamer. Could you share your address so I can thank you in person?]
[You evil little brat from Paldea, don't corrupt our kind Nurse Joy!]
[I recommend making this a required course for Nurse Joy. If Chansey and Blissey both learn this strategy, Pokémon Centers will definitely become much more peaceful...]
[Fun fact: the Joy family also has investigators and Gym inspectors. I get the feeling Chansey really is going to become a pink demon now! (Sad)]
The chat's comments made it clear that the viewers thought highly of this Minimize strategy built around Chansey.
In a Pokémon world where offense was the norm, the defensive approach Qingyu demonstrated had been quite a shock in itself.
So you could win battles like this too?
After scanning the chat, Qingyu finally spotted Nurse Joy from Flat Dish Town.
[Hardworking Nurse Joy:
You're amazing, Mr. Qingyu! If it's just Minimize and Seismic Toss, Chansey shouldn't have much trouble learning them. We finally won't have to fear wild Pokémon when we're outdoors!
So please hurry and upload a video, Mr. Qingyu. I'll share it in the Joy family group chat so more Nurse Joys can learn the Minimize strategy~
Although having the Chansey who work as nurses at Pokémon Centers learn Toxic does feel a little awkward...]
Only after Nurse Joy said that did Qingyu realize-
Paldea's Pokémon Centers broke with tradition, evolving into outdoor facilities resembling gas stations.
There were even stations in many areas where wild Pokémon gathered, allowing Trainers to restore their Pokémon's stamina whenever they needed to out in the wilderness.
Convenient as that was, it also created potential risks.
Nurse Joy and the other staff really couldn't handle attacks from even a few wild Pokémon on their own.
But if Nurse Joy had some fighting ability too...
Minimize was already a natural survival instinct for Pokémon, and Seismic Toss and Toxic weren't difficult to learn either. It would be easy to equip Chansey for battle.
In an instant, more than half of this problem that had troubled the Paldea League was solved.
Wasn't that a wonderful thing?
"You really are something, Mr. Qingyu. Even playing a stall team, you manage to contribute to world peace!"
Qingyu almost embarrassed himself with his own praise.
"Why do you all look so strange?"
When Cynthia arrived at the League office, the first thing she saw was the peculiar expressions on the trio's faces.
Flint sat blankly in his chair as though his soul had left his body. Behind him, Aaron and Lucian wore slightly complicated expressions, seemingly still struggling not to laugh.
"Boss, just watch Flint's last match and you'll understand!"
Aaron immediately restored his serious expression, helpfully turning on Flint's computer and bringing up the replay of the battle.
Looking puzzled, Cynthia approached the computer.
The first thing she noticed was the opponent's username.
"Azure Feather..."
Cynthia raised an eyebrow and revealed an intriguing smile.
Thanks to Misty Rain for the tip.
As the original pink demon, little Chansey with maxed-out physical defense and an Eviolite is actually much tankier than you might think. Its HP is right there, after all -.-
