Make tutorial videos?
"Sure, I could do that."
After giving it a little thought, Qingyu quickly agreed.
Building the Gym's reputation through livestreaming alone really wasn't that easy. Pokémon battle tutorials were still a largely untapped market, too, so he could try branching out.
It just meant he would have to suffer through some overtime after his streams...
"One last little homework question for you. For an Endeavor strategy, there's actually a Pokémon that's an even better fit than Aron. Does anyone know which one?"
"If you figure it out, feel free to leave your answer in the video's comments."
"Well then, see you tomorrow~"
Before his voice had even faded, the stream suddenly went black, leaving behind a chat that hadn't yet caught up.
[??? That was one fast cut...]
[When it comes to speed, I admit you're the best, streamer!]
[Looking forward to your tutorial, Streamer! That Endeavor strategy looks seriously strong in the lower ranks!]
Qingyu could no longer see the scrolling chat.
The first thing he did after ending the stream was-
Get up and use the bathroom.
Qingyu didn't know about anything else, but a weak bladder definitely made someone unsuited to streaming.
That was a valuable lesson he had learned in his previous life.
After returning to his bedroom from the bathroom, Qingyu was about to pick up Eevee, who was dozing beside his pillow, when several lines of text appeared before his eyes again.
[Back at eighteen, your knowledge of strategies from later years quickly helped you discover the secret to livestreaming success. You won over your audience with a powerful strategy, gaining the first fans for yourself and the Sunshine Gym!] [Quest: Follow the Levincia Gym's successful model and gain the Gym's first fans. (Completed)] [Reward: System functions unlocked, growth points ×50] [Life Comeback System unlocked. Current functions: Point Shop, System Pokédex, Travel Raising]
"I can't help feeling this system latched onto the wrong person..."
Qingyu's mouth twitched.
He was a transmigrator too, but he wasn't the original owner of this body who had traveled back from the future. Hadn't he more or less crossed into a parallel world with Pokémon?
The process was wildly wrong, yet the result somehow turned out right.
It was pretty amazing, really.
Qingyu tried controlling the virtual screen before him with his mind. The quest panel soon faded, revealing the system's actual interface.
All three currently available sections were simple and straightforward.
In the unlocked Point Shop, he could exchange growth points for all sorts of items from the Pokémon world.
However, he wasn't sure whether his current access level was too low or the system simply had that little stock.
He browsed through it briefly. Aside from various Berries, there were only some unremarkable held items and Technical Machines.
"I barely have any points right now, so this probably won't be much use, will it?"
As for the System Pokédex, it seemed to be a permanent passive effect.
Specifically, whenever Qingyu focused his gaze on a Pokémon for about five seconds, its information would automatically pop up.
At the moment, his own Eevee was clearly his only available test subject.
He kept his gaze on the dozing Eevee, and a panel resembling those from the games in his previous life soon appeared before Qingyu's eyes.
[Eevee (Female)] [Type: Normal] [Ability: Anticipation] [Moves: Tail Whip, Growl, Helping Hand, Covet] [A very timid nature.] [Hatched in Celestic Town on July 27, where you met her.] [Dislikes spicy flavors.] [Loves painting.]
Judging by the moves she knew, Eevee's combat strength really was nothing special.
Before she evolved, her hidden ability, Anticipation, and her timid nature would likely do more harm than good.
Still, as his starter Pokémon, she had a very high friendship level.
Qingyu nodded, unsurprised by the result.
In his eyes, Eevee's current strength didn't matter. With the system's other function available, helping her grow should hardly be difficult.
His gaze shifted to the last of the system's currently unlocked functions.
Travel Raising.
As the name suggested, it let Pokémon travel elsewhere and develop in the wild.
It was probably a convenient function that sent Pokémon to challenge wild Pokémon and level up. The price happened to be fifty growth points per trip.
It looked like the most useful function at present, making it hard not to suspect that this, too, was part of the beginner quest.
As Qingyu considered that, more text appeared before his eyes.
[Although you have gained your first fans, your own strength is also an important factor in keeping the Gym running.] [The Gym qualification assessment is only two months away. If you cannot pass the League's trial, your only option will be to return to Celestic Town.] [So, to avoid repeating your previous life, when people nagged you forever about living off a woman, start working toward becoming a Gym Trainer now!] [In this life, you swear you will be on top!] [New quest unlocked: Use the Travel Raising function to accelerate Pokémon development.] [Reward: Blue the Trainer's Complete Guide to Raising Pokémon]
"I knew it!"
Qingyu had anticipated the system's next move.
"Come to think of it, what's so bad about having a rich wife? I'd be perfectly happy living in a seaside mansion and driving a supercar..."
Celestic Town, rich woman, successful career.
Why does it feel like the system's hinting at Cynthia?
But if it's Sinnoh Champion Cynthia, would even a sigma male really choose to restart for a second playthrough?
That's Cynthia-the woman players will always adore!
Qingyu shook his head, then turned a thoughtful gaze toward Eevee.
Besides, no matter how he looked at it, making the timid Eevee battle in the wild on her very first trip was going too far.
But getting Blue's training guide would undoubtedly be a huge help in his future career as a Trainer.
This was Blue, after all-the Trainer personally endorsed by Professor Oak. His skill at raising Pokémon was unquestionably ahead of a whole host of Champions.
So, was there a better way?
"Vee... (っ﹏-)."
Seemingly sensing Qingyu's gaze, Eevee groggily opened her sleepy eyes and let out a soft, adorable cry.
Only after rubbing her eyes did she notice her Trainer watching her with a gentle smile.
"Vee~"
Eevee's big, fluffy tail immediately began to wag, and she leaned over to nuzzle Qingyu's wrist.
"Eevee, do you want to become a painter?"
Qingyu spoke, his eyes full of encouragement as he looked at Eevee.
He suddenly remembered the words in the System Pokédex.
[Loves painting.]
If he nurtured her interests, Eevee probably wouldn't be too reluctant to travel, would she?
"Vee!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Eevee nodded firmly.
Noticing her sudden excitement, Qingyu's smile widened.
She really does love this.
With that settled, he already knew where her first trip would take her.
With that thought, Qingyu quickly walked over to his computer desk and took a map from a drawer.
After spreading it out in front of Eevee, he pointed to a landmass labeled "Kalos Region."
"Have you heard of the Kalos Region?"
Qingyu smiled at Eevee and continued explaining.
"In the center of the Kalos Region is Lumiose City. Its art museum is recognized worldwide as the foremost home of art."
"If you want to become a painter, how about going there to see some world-famous paintings?"
"Vee! (☆ω☆)"
Eevee's eyes instantly lit up.
Before you continue
