"A Mimikyu?"
(The image shows how Mimikyu attacks.)
Qingyu nodded when he saw the Pokémon young Okamoto sent out.
Mimikyu had a very limited range in Paldea, so catching one took quite a bit of luck.
As he studied his opponent's Pokémon, its information appeared before his eyes as several lines of text.
[Mimikyu (male)] [Type: Ghost + Fairy] [Ability: Disguise]
This Pokémon was quite something.
Its unusual type combination gave it excellent offensive and defensive capabilities, and it also possessed a unique, god-tier Ability.
Disguise was the Pikachu costume wrapped around its body.
Since its true body was a ghost that could turn incorporeal at will, this costume could block at least one attack in most circumstances.
It was easy to imagine how powerful this Ability was in a Pokémon battle.
Especially in a slightly slower-paced Single Battle, getting a practically risk-free chance to boost with Swords Dance could easily let it sweep the opposing team...
Still, with the strategy he planned to use today, giving it a chance to power up hardly seemed to matter.
While Qingyu was thinking, Okamoto was silently observing the Eevee opposite him as well.
Eevee was a very timid Pokémon, so logically, he should have Mimikyu launch a swift, all-out assault.
But...
Thump, thump, THUMP!
Watching this Eevee's "King Engine" roar at full throttle, Okamoto felt an immense, invisible pressure gradually enveloping him. Even his breathing grew a little hurried.
Better play it safe. Gym Leader Qingyu's Pokémon never seem that simple.
He had already learned enough painful lessons from that Breloom last time.
"Mimikyu, power up with Swords Dance, then attack with Trailblaze!"
First, he would use the opening move granted to challengers by the Gym battle rules to boost on the spot. Then Trailblaze would close the distance in
