The melee continued, but just as Cassidy and Butch had expected, even though Misty and the others' Pokémon had joined the fray and caught them off guard, they had no further effect beyond causing some initial confusion.
For every Pokémon they defeated, several more would swarm them!
They were soon intercepted and tied down by even more Team Rocket Pokémon, ultimately becoming trapped in the encirclement as well.
Seeing that the outcome seemed settled, Butch and Cassidy wore confident smiles once again.

But compared with the ease of those two, the captain inside the submarine soon detected something unusual on the radar.
A Team Rocket member hurriedly turned and shouted to the captain, "Report! Several unidentified helicopters have been detected in the waters to the south! They're heading here at high speed!"

The captain's brow furrowed again, and he asked in surprise, "Why would helicopters turn up in a place like this? Are you sure they're coming for us?"
The Team Rocket member nodded. "Judging by their flight paths, they really are flying straight toward us!"
"How long until they get here?"
"An estimated ten minutes or so!"
"Ten minutes?" With a sigh, the captain took out his communications device and spoke to Butch and Cassidy outside the submarine. "The situation has changed. An outside force has suddenly intervened. You must finish this quickly. Try to end the battle within eight minutes!"
An outside force?
Hearing the captain's words, Cassidy and Butch exchanged a glance, both greatly surprised.
This was a remote, uninhabited island. No one would come here for no reason. That meant these people had to be coming for them!
