Slaking was one of Norman's signature Pokémon.
Even without Norman's reminder just now, Xia You knew it would be difficult to deal with.
As a power-oriented Pokémon, fighting it at close quarters hardly seemed wise, but his three Pokémon...
After thinking it over for quite some time, Xia You ruled out Tyranitar first.
There was no helping it. Tyranitar's Rock type did give it a certain advantage against the Normal-type Slaking, and since both relied on power, it seemed capable of taking Slaking head-on.
But it was simply too slow!
It would absolutely be kited to death against Slaking. Even if it used Rock Tomb to try to restrict Slaking's movements, climbing was clearly something this ape Pokémon excelled at, so it would never produce the intended effect.
In the end, after a moment's hesitation between Dragonite and Scizor, Xia You chose Scizor.
"I'm leaving the next battle to you. Go, Scizor!"
In terms of types alone, Slaking's Normal-type moves could not deal much effective damage to the Steel-type Scizor. Beyond those, Slaking also knew many Fighting-type moves, but these would still have little effect on the Bug-type Scizor.
This would give Scizor a certain advantage right from the start.
Of course, the most important factor was its physical capabilities.
Although its strength, speed, and stamina fell short of Slaking's, its steel-plated body gave Scizor considerable resilience, and its offensive power was excellent as well. With its pair of small wings, although it still risked being kited by Slaking, it at least had some room to maneuver.
A blue light flashed, and Scizor appeared on the field before walking to its position.
But just as it was about to take a good look at its opponent, it saw that Slaking was still lying there lazily, motionless, merely raising its eyes
