Chapter Summaries

Xia You discovered Team Rocket’s takeover of Silph Co. and alerted Looker, who recruited Sabrina to help investigate. They planned to enter the building together to find out what Team Rocket was doing.

• Xia You spotted Team Rocket members herding researchers inside Silph Co. and called the police, but they dismissed his report as a prank.
• Xia You deduced how Team Rocket had used false alarms and disturbances around the city to keep police from stopping its takeover.
• Xia You sent Looker photos of the scene and explained his suspicions, but Looker said the evidence was too weak to convince the authorities.
• Looker asked Xia You to investigate and promised to seek help from the Pokémon League.
• Sabrina arrived after the League contacted her, and Xia You explained the situation before proposing that they enter Silph Co. together.

Xia You and Sabrina infiltrated Silph Co. through a neighboring building and learned that Team Rocket had gathered its employees under guard while concentrating most of its forces on the lower and upper floors. They decided to rescue the company president, while Gastly went to disable the surveillance system.

• Xia You and Sabrina entered a neighboring office building, then used Kirlia's Teleport and Sabrina's psychic flight to reach a deserted office in Silph Co.
• Xia You sent Gastly to scout, and Gastly reported that few Team Rocket members were on the middle floors and that the employees were being guarded but appeared safe.
• Xia You proposed finding the president and getting him to safety, and Sabrina agreed to help.
• Xia You spotted a camera in the corridor and sent Gastly to the Control Room to disable the surveillance system before they moved.
• In the Control Room, a Team Rocket member found his partner slumped motionless over the console after Gastly had entered the area.

Gastly knocked out two Team Rocket guards and disabled the surveillance system, allowing Xia You and Sabrina to slip toward the stairs. They hid in a locker when Rocket members entered a recreation room and overheard their captain reveal that Team Rocket was after Silph Co.'s Master Ball.

• Gastly knocked out the guards, destroyed the surveillance control panel, and impersonated one guard over the walkie-talkie.
• Xia You and Sabrina left the Fifteenth Floor office after seeing the surveillance camera go dark, but hid in a recreation-room locker when Rocket members approached.
• Sabrina used Confusion to keep the locker shut while a Team Rocket member checked it.
• The captain let his team rest for five minutes after they finished searching the recreation room.
• The captain told the Rocket members that their main target was Silph Co.'s Master Ball, which could catch any Pokémon with a one hundred percent success rate.

Xia You and Sabrina fought their way through Silph Co. as Team Rocket searched for them and pursued them toward the top floor. There, they encountered Lance, while Giovanni had already departed by helicopter with the Master Ball still missing.

• Xia You and Sabrina left the recreation room after hiding from Team Rocket, then headed upstairs with Gastly.
• Sabrina turned several Team Rocket grunts into dolls, and Xia You used Gastly and Kirlia to knock down more grunts as they fled upward.
• Giovanni questioned the Silph Co. president about the Master Ball and ordered Lance to stop Sabrina and the other intruder from escaping alive.

Xia You and Sabrina fought their way through Team Rocket’s headquarters, where Athena revealed herself as another executive and challenged Xia You. The chapter ended with Athena’s Arbok and Murkrow facing Xia You’s Pokémon in the President’s Office.

• Xia You sent out Zapdos, which incapacitated most of the Team Rocket members while Kirlia teleported Xia You and Sabrina out of the attack’s range.
• Lance released Zubat and Weezing and tried to stop Xia You, but Sabrina stayed behind with Zapdos and Gastly to confront him.
• Xia You reached the President’s Office, found the old man, and learned that Giovanni had already left by helicopter.
• Athena appeared in the office, introduced herself as a Team Rocket executive and researcher, and refused to let Xia You and the old man leave.

In Celadon City, Xia You visited a perfume shop run by Gym Leader Erika and asked her to choose gifts for Chloe, Misty, Sabrina, and Yoshino Cerise.

• Xia You defeated Gyarados with Jolteon's final electric attack and calmed it by rubbing its horn.
• Matori reported Xia You's actions to Giovanni, who ordered Jessie and James to delay him and the Matori Matrix to target an International Police officer in Celadon City.

• Xia You sent Haunter to check the area, and Haunter reported a gravely injured person inside a nearby warehouse.

Xia You treated the badly injured Looker, who planned to escape the city by freight train, but Team Rocket attacked them at the warehouse and railway station. After Xia You and his Pokémon fought off Jessie and James, Gozu and the Matori Matrix ambushed them, leaving Xia You and Looker facing Team Rocket’s elite unit.

• Xia You found Looker wounded in a warehouse, treated him and his poisoned Pokémon, and learned that Team Rocket’s Matori Matrix had attacked him.
• Looker refused to go to a Pokémon Center because Team Rocket might have informants and decided to escape by freight train.
• Jessie and James burst into the warehouse to attack Xia You, while Kirlia, Charmander, and Squirtle stopped their Pokémon.
• Xia You helped Looker flee through the warehouse’s back door, but a rocket struck near the railway tracks and a strange wind carried them clear of the blast.
• Gozu introduced himself and the four other Team Rocket members on the rooftop as the Matori Matrix.

Xia You and Looker faced the Matori Matrix as their Pokémon clashed in the warehouse. Xia You arranged Looker’s escape aboard a passing train, but the Matrix moved to stop him before a giant Meowth-shaped robot appeared.

• Gozu recognized Xia You and ordered the Matori Matrix to attack him and Looker with their Pokémon.
• Xia You released his Pokémon, while Jessie, James, and Meowth secretly planned to interfere with the Matrix during the fight.

At the Pokémon Center, he revealed the Game Corner base and Giovanni’s identity to Looker, who warned him the next morning to leave the city while the International Police prepared their investigation.

• Xia You’s Pokémon destroyed the Meowth robot, and Jessie, James, and Meowth were blasted into the sky.
• Squirtle evolved into Wartortle, and Xia You recalled his injured Pokémon and left before the guards arrived.

• Charmander used Ember along Tangela’s vines, setting Tangela alight before finishing it with another burst of fire.
• Erika recalled Tangela and sent out Weepinbell, which used Razor Leaf and Acid against Charmander.
• Charmander hid in Smokescreen, then struck Weepinbell with Ember, repeated claw swipes, and Dragon Rage while Weepinbell was committed to Razor Leaf.
• The blue-haired referee declared Weepinbell unable to battle, and Charmander evolved into Charmeleon.
• Erika sent out her final Pokémon, Gloom.

Xia You defeated Erika in a Gym battle and earned the Rainbow Badge after Charmeleon and Gloom both became unable to battle. He left with his fifth badge and renewed confidence in Charmeleon's potential.

• Erika sent out Gloom, whose foul stench made Charmeleon struggle, and Xia You had Charmeleon attack with Flamethrower.
• Gloom put Charmeleon to sleep with Sleep Powder, then used Growth to strengthen its Solar Beam.
• Gloom's Solar Beam woke Charmeleon, who activated Blaze and charged through Poison Powder to strike Gloom with Fire Fang.
• Charmeleon collapsed from the Poison Powder, but Fire Fang burned Gloom, leaving both Pokémon unable to battle and giving Xia You the victory.
• Erika praised Charmeleon and awarded Xia You the Rainbow Badge, his fifth badge.

Xia You trained with Zapdos and Haunter before Chloe and Goh visited Cerise Park, where he gave Chloe perfume and startled Goh with his hidden Pokémon. He arranged to move Zapdos into a Great Ball, then visited Yoshino Cerise and praised the finished manga.

• Xia You trained Haunter and Zapdos until both were exhausted, and Zapdos showed it had begun to accept his direction.

After Nastina offered a million-dollar reward to drive off the Tentacool, Team Rocket’s provocation led one of them to become a giant Tentacruel that devastated the city with a tsunami. Xia You and the others escaped on Gyarados, and Xia You explained that the hotel had been built over the Tentacool’s coral reef habitat.

• Misty refused Nastina’s offer and said the Tentacool must have a reason for attacking people.
• Nastina’s announcement drew Trainers to the docks, where Team Rocket accepted the job and provoked a huge gathering of Tentacool.
• A Tentacool was doused with an unknown liquid and transformed into a giant Tentacruel, which began wrecking Nastina’s hotel.
• Nastina’s weapons failed to hurt the giant Tentacruel, and it sent a tsunami and Tentacool into the city.
• Xia You got Ash, Brock, and Misty onto Gyarados and led them to safety on a hill overlooking the ruined city.
• Xia You explained that the hotel had been built on the Tentacool’s coral reef and that construction had driven them to retaliate.
