"Riolu? (Weren't we going to have a Gym battle? Why are we back?)"
When Riolu came out of her ball again, she realized something wasn't quite right.
By all rights, she should have been in the arena, locked in a fierce battle with a new opponent, not standing in the Pokémon Center.
For a moment, Riolu even felt as though the battle had given her amnesia.
She had indeed been preparing outside earlier, but the wait had dragged on so long that she had simply gone back into her ball for a rest. Who knew that by the time she woke up, it would be dark and the Gym battle would be over?
"Meow. (There was a little mishap. Our genius Master Squirtle managed to make the opponent surrender without a fight, so he'll have to be your opponent today.)"
"Squirtle? (I'm not the one who made them surrender. Why am I getting dragged into this?)"
"Meow. (You have two choices: do some extra training with Riolu, or have me put you through some extra training. Pick one.)"
There really was no way to argue when the other side had declared Xin Mu the winner outright.
Besides, what bothered Meownei more was how a certain turtle had slipped at the start, fallen over, and accidentally sunk to the bottom, only to insist afterward that it had all been a tactic. "Squirtle!"
Squirtle sprang off the sofa, took Riolu along, and headed straight for the Pokémon Center's practice area.
A battle with Riolu would still be a teaching match, after all. Although she was very good at making Aura explode, Squirtle could withstand those explosions.
Fighting Meownei meant being on the receiving end of the lesson. He had no desire to experience being whipped into spinning like a top by Vine
