"Squirtle... (Look, I think you're asking the impossible. How is this any different from making a Ground-type Pokémon fly?)"
"Meow? (Not all Ground-types are unable to fly. Look at Lucario. She can fly without wings.)"
"Squirtle! (How is that the same thing?! What Squirtle knows a move like that?!)"
Squirtle read danger in Meownei's smile. Just as he was about to find an excuse to argue back, Meownei suddenly abandoned her earlier idea.
But before Squirtle could breathe a sigh of relief, she proposed something even more terrifying to him.
"Meow. (That wouldn't be very suitable. I should have Corviknight take you farther away before mealtime. If you can't get back in time, you'll lose a meal.)"
"Squirtle! (Don't be such a devil! There are children in this house! Shouldn't you be setting a good example for them?!)"
Squirtle had no idea what setting an example had to do with any of this. He had simply grabbed whatever excuse came to mind, letting his agitation convey his protest against Meownei's devilish idea.
"Meow. (There's a little devil in every Meowscarada, you know. But don't worry too much. I won't make you do something you can't possibly manage.)"
Squirtle's potential always needed a little pressure to bring it out, but Meownei wouldn't make him do anything too outrageous.
This was only the first step in Meownei's plan. With that pressure hanging over him, getting Squirtle to learn moves within his reach, such as Zen Headbutt, should become much easier.
Without another word, Meownei put Squirtle down. Whether he would start imagining all sorts of things afterward was beyond her knowledge.
While Meownei worked on Squirtle's training plan, Xin Mu had already begun cooking a second pot of Max Soup.
This one was for Corviknight.
Having cooked it once already, Xin Mu
