Sylveon's slamming motions were remarkably practiced. With her distinctive pulses having robbed Ekans of its hostility, it had no time to react,

before her relentless series of swings and slams left it thoroughly dazed.

And that way of slamming... looked a little familiar.

"Is that your technique?"

"Meow. (Possibly. Maybe she saw me whipping Squirtle into shape in the Backyard back then.)"

Meowscarada also had a flexible vine stem that could stand in for an arm for all sorts of tasks, but Sylveon had four ribbon feelers, making her slams much more straightforward.

That Ekans wasn't particularly high-level, and Sylveon's beating seemed to have knocked it out of the fight entirely.

Yet looking at that Ekans, Xin Mu kept feeling he had forgotten something, though he couldn't quite remember what.

There wasn't much wind on that summer night, yet the grass was still swaying, even inching closer to them.

"Meow. (I think... I know what you forgot.)"

Looking at the surrounding grass, Meownei sensed traces of living creatures. Lucario went a step further, forming an Aura Staff and swinging it toward the grass beside them.

One swift swing sent another Ekans flying.

These Pokémon weren't solitary creatures but lived in groups, theoretically sharing a trait with the local roaches.

As everyone knew, if one cockroach appeared in your house, an entire cockroach family had probably already bred in the unseen corners and cracks.

Ekans weren't quite that extreme, but they were still Pokémon that lived in groups. There was more than one Ekans nearby.

In the surrounding grass and up in the trees, there could be an Ekans watching them from anywhere.

"Sylveon, let's go!"

"Nia?"

Sylveon didn't seem to understand why they suddenly had to leave. That snake Pokémon had tried to ambush her, but she had defeated it.
