As Riolu's evolved form, Lucario gained the Steel type. With its excellent resistances compared to many other types, Steel gave Lucario greater durability.
For example, Flying-type attacks, which were normally super effective against Fighting types, would only deal normal damage now.
If there was a drawback, it was the added weakness to Fighting-type attacks, but overall, the benefits certainly outweighed the disadvantages.
Evolution was a step toward greater strength. Evolved Pokémon generally became stronger; they simply needed to adapt their fighting styles to their evolved bodies.
The Turtwig Ash caught in the Sinnoh Region was one example. Before evolving, its nimble body suited a fast, aggressive fighting style.
But continuing to fight like a Turtwig with Torterra's bulky body clearly did not work. As a result, the evolved Torterra became little more than a target, constantly taking hits.
In theory, a Fighting-type move would be more effective than Aerial Ace, but that only held true when the difference in level was small.
Even with a quadruple weakness to Water, Groudon after Primal Reversion would not be defeated by an ordinary Hydro Pump. The water would evaporate completely before it even touched Groudon's body.
Rather than focusing on how effective a move might be, it would be better to train other things.
"Luka..."
Lucario was slightly surprised that Riolu could use Aerial Ace.
Lucario had once been a Riolu too. This was not a move Riolu could learn naturally, but that hardly changed anything.
The Bone Rush attack had already ended, but Lucario still held the aura staff. After precisely intercepting Riolu's Aerial Ace, Lucario jabbed it forward and knocked her to the ground.
"Luka. (You can't just charge in blindly. Your fighting style is too direct. It works, but it doesn't suit you as you are now, especially when you're
