The beast's head was not large, triangular in shape, and its two eyes were equally tiny, as though they could barely open. Most peculiar of all, its eyes sat far from the top of its head, making its features look utterly unbalanced. Though the beast's eyes were small, what puzzled Xiao Hua was that when he focused his mind and stood on guard, he could actually see the same shock and astonishment in those little eyes that he himself felt.
The beast flew out of the passageway and, seeing Xiao Hua standing before it with the As-You-Wish Staff in hand, let out a long "Aoo..." and abruptly retreated, as if it too were avoiding Xiao Hua. Yet it had withdrawn less than half a zhang when, upon nearing the passage it had emerged from, it seemed as though it had been stung by snakes and scorpions. A layer of gray radiance flowed over its body, and its several-zhang-long form suddenly turned sharp as a spike, about to charge at Xiao Hua.
Xiao Hua sneered. His divine sense swept behind him, where the strange insect had already poked half its body out of the void. He raised the As-You-Wish Staff and shouted, "Wretch, take a blow from this Xiao!"
"Whoosh~" The As-You-Wish Staff swung, stirring heaven and earth. As Xiao Hua rose into the air, it smashed toward the beast!
Yet strangely, before he could enlarge the As-You-Wish Staff, the beast suddenly changed direction amid its long howl and rushed toward the space above Xiao Hua's head! This truly caught Xiao Hua by surprise.
"Huh?" Though Xiao Hua did not understand, joy rose in his heart. The direction the beast was heading was precisely where the strange insect had emerged, while ahead of him lay the passage the beast had left
