Though it appeared faint, it was incomparably tenacious!
With another snap, Buddha fire arose again. Yet beyond the Buddha fire, demonic shadows loomed layer upon layer. Maitreya Buddha World Honored One's golden body was already incomplete, while the myriad demons roared wildly and devoured frenziedly!
Whooo... Before the Buddha fire could remain alight, Outer Realm heavenly demons were reborn once more and extinguished it.
This continued through eighty-one cycles of birth and extinction before a Buddha fire shaped like a lotus finally lit up. Tens of millions of heavenly demons howled endlessly within that Buddha light.
"Excellent..." Rāgaratna Tathagata had even forgotten to chant the Buddha's name as he said softly, "This is the most arduous Heavenly Gate guidance I have ever seen. Fortunately, at last..."
Before Rāgaratna Tathagata could finish his crow-mouthed words, a chorus of ghostly wails and wolfish howls suddenly came from Mount Sumeru in the distant sky. Several black shadows crossed the heavens and pounced toward Maitreya Buddha World Honored One!
"Damn it!" Rāgaratna Tathagata cried out. "I forgot that the Four Great Continents have Mount Sumeru, and Mount Sumeru has a Heaven Beyond Heaven!!!"
