Xia Chi, a Pokémon enthusiast reincarnated in the Pokémon world, discovered that a Hextech system had finally activated after three years. He received several rare rewards and returned to his dorm, where he agreed to play his roommate Chen Zhenze’s promotion match during his stream.
Xia Chi explored the Pokémon-focused system and then streamed Pokémon: Champion's Path, where he built a team centered on Trapinch. He began a ranked challenge to reach Great Ball tier without losing.
Xia Chi used a Trick Room team to defeat a sun team and advanced to his Great Ball promotion match. His final opponent was Iono, who recognized him from their previous battle and selected a team to counter him, unaware of what Trapinch could do.
Iono battled Xia Chi and was caught off guard by his Trapinch, whose Ground typing and Trick Room support let it overwhelm her team. As Trapinch returned to interrupt her attempt to stop Hatterene from setting Trick Room, Iono lost her composure and declared she was done playing.
After defeating Iono again, Xia Chi gained a surge of viewers and explained his Trapinch prediction and Trick Room tactics. Iono watched his stream, praised the strategy, and sent him a Master Ball as a gift before Xia Chi ended the stream.
After ending his livestream, Xia Chi welcomed Sprigatito to his room, fed it, and treated its wounds. He recalled how they had met and learned that the abandoned Pokémon had been living as a stray for over half a year.
Xia Chi invited Sprigatito to become his Pokémon, and Sprigatito accepted after he reminded it of its desire to return to battle. The system unlocked its bond features, leaving Xia Chi to consider how Sprigatito’s bonds could help them grow stronger.
Xia Chi used the Chosen Badge to promote Sprigatito, selecting a Dark-type synergy that left it asleep through the night. He agreed to build Iono a team around Pachirisu in exchange for a Master Ball for every win, while Sprigatito woke the next morning and began to feel at home with its new Trainer.
After Sprigatito woke with enhanced strength and speed, Xia Chi registered her as his Pokémon and learned that the Shanghai Pokémon Cup had triggered a system round. He chose to participate, and the system announced that the minor round could award rewards up to a Gold-Tier Orb.
Xia Chi planned to enter the Shanghai Pokémon Cup and used his system’s Artifact Forge to strengthen Sprigatito. He equipped Sprigatito with Trinity Force and selected a B. F. Sword, then faced a choice for his second basic item.
Xia Chi equipped Sprigatito with a Bloodthirster and studied Grass-type Pokémon care to prepare her for training and competition. After spending most of his savings on supplies, he returned to their cramped dorm and began wishing he could find her a better place to train.
Xia Chi began a livestream using Iono’s account and a team built around Pachirisu, intending to climb the ranked ladder. His first opponent brought a Trick Room lineup, and the battle opened with both sides fielding their lead Pokémon.
Xia Chi used Rillaboom, Incineroar, and Amoonguss to defeat his opponent with Fake Out, Trick Room counters, and Spore. After Pachirisu joined the fight and both opposing Pokémon fell asleep, the opponent surrendered, leaving Xia Chi victorious.
Xia Chi won six straight matches on Iono’s account and reached the verge of Master Ball tier. His final match paired him against Raihan, and he picked a serious lineup that still included Pachirisu as the battle began.
Xia Chi used a series of switches and attacks to outmaneuver Raihan’s opening strategy, then brought Pachirisu onto the field. Raihan was shocked by the choice but decided to target Xia Chi’s weakened Sylveon.
Xia Chi used Pachirisu and his other Pokémon to disrupt Raihan’s team and bring down Sylveon, Archaludon, and Incineroar. After Incineroar fell, Garchomp used Swords Dance, leaving Raihan facing a boosted threat.
Xia Chi defeated Raihan by using Pachirisu’s Follow Me to redirect Salamence’s Draco Meteor and protect Garchomp, prompting Raihan to quit his stream. The victory drew a flood of attention and gifts, while skilled battlers began to study Xia Chi’s tactical team style.
After ending his exhausting stream, Xia Chi chatted with Iono, who offered him Sprigatito training notes in exchange for a more affectionate form of address. The chapter ended with Xia Chi teasing Iono about calling her “Mommy,” while Sprigatito silently judged him.
Xia Chi negotiated with Iono for both Brassius and Geeta’s Sprigatito training notes and a rare Miracle Seed in exchange for monthly gaming sessions and a future favor. The next morning, Dragonite Express delivered Iono’s package to Xia Chi’s fourth-floor window.
After giving Sprigatito a Mystery Seed, Xia Chi went to class while Sprigatito secretly headed out to train against the Mankey that had bullied it. Xia Chi realized his Pokémon was fighting on its own, and Sprigatito discovered it could now defeat Mankey with ease.
Sprigatito secretly battled Mankey to build Fear while Xia Chi attended class, then returned injured and was treated by him. Xia Chi bought Sprigatito a tracker and set rules for its independent training, leaving their plan to cash in on its growing win streak underway.
Xia Chi began preparing a video series about Sinnoh’s creation mythology, planning to present Arceus’s legend with little embellishment. He expected the series to draw attention and establish his reputation if the mythology was later verified.
Xia Chi kept training Sprigatito and drew attention after defeating Raihan, while his growing rapport with Iono brought him detailed Sprigatito raising notes from Geeta and Brassius. He began studying the materials as Sprigatito neared its next evolution and the Shanghai Pokémon Cup approached.
Xia Chi developed a training plan for Sprigatito from Geeta’s and Brassius’s notes, then stayed up all night polishing and publishing a video about Arceus and Sinnoh’s creation myths. In Celestic Town, Cynthia saw the upload and began watching with skepticism and curiosity.
Cynthia watched Shuiye’s video presenting a creation myth about Arceus and the Legendary Pokémon, then showed it to her grandmother, Professor Carolina. Carolina could not confirm the theory, but recalled an old story linking Arceus to a Space-Time Rift, prompting Cynthia to consider visiting the Canalave Library.
