"Pidgeot, don't use close-range attacks, or Iron Barbs will hurt you! Use Whirlwind!"
"Ferrothorn, use Ingrain!"
After using Ingrain, Ferrothorn kept recovering, offsetting most of the damage Pidgeot dealt.
"Ferrothorn, use Sunny Day next!"
Sunny Day flooded the entire Gym with sunlight.
"Oh no, next it'll definitely use Solar Beam. Pidgeot, fly higher and dodge!"
"You guessed wrong, Ash. Ferrothorn, Explosion!"
The explosion engulfed the entire battlefield. Ferrothorn blew itself up, and both it and Pidgeot, caught in the blast, were unable to battle.
"Come back and rest, Pidgeot."
"Thanks for your hard work, Ferrothorn."
The battle was evenly matched. Erika and I each had only two Pokémon left, and one on each side was already paralyzed.
"Come out, Vileplume! My ace. Don't let Ferrothorn's efforts go to waste!"
"Then I'll use you! Swa..."
"PIKA! PI!"
Before I could send out Swablu, Pikachu stepped forward, brimming with confidence.
"Pikachu's raring to go. Then I'm counting on you!" I returned Swablu's Poké Ball to my belt.
"Sunny Day is still in effect. Use Solar Beam now and catch him off guard!"
"PIKA!"
Solar Beam struck Pikachu, badly injuring him.
"Pikachu, hang in there! Use Quick Attack to jump onto Vileplume!"
"Not so fast! Double Team!"
"Pikachu, don't be fooled! Focus and find the real one!"
"CHU!"
Pikachu successfully landed in the center of Vileplume's flower.
"You did it! Use Thunder, Pikachu!"
"We have no choice now. Vileplume, use Solar Beam again!" (Vileplume fired Solar Beam from the center of its flower.)
The two powerful forces, Thunder and Solar Beam, collided, causing a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Pikachu and Vileplume were both lying on the ground.
The battle entered its final stage, with the already injured Tangrowth and Charmander facing off. Sunny Day's effects had also ended.
