Once they were out of the water, Brock realized that the person calling for help was someone he knew: Lucy, the Frontier Brain of the Battle Pike in the Battle Frontier.
"It's Lucy! How did you... No time to chat! Let me take a look at Seviper!" Brock immediately went over to Seviper.
Seviper had an apple stuck in its throat and looked terribly distressed, as though it was about to suffocate.
Brock had no medical equipment with him, but Seviper's condition was critical, so he had no choice but to treat it with his bare hands.
Seviper was a serpentine Poison-type Pokémon. The slightest mistake could get Brock stabbed by its venomous fangs or tongue, so he had to be especially careful.
"Let me find it... There!" Brock slowly reached into Seviper's throat, searching for the lodged apple.
Seviper could barely stand the sensation of having its throat probed, while Brock was still slowly working the stuck apple out.
Watching from the side, Lucy flushed bright red, unable to help feeling a surge of admiration for Brock.
Not only does he have those narrow eyes I like, he's also a caring Pokémon Doctor. He's wonderful! Lucy thought.
At last, Brock pulled the lodged apple free, and the tourists watching around them burst into cheers.
"Lucy, your Seviper is going to be fine!" Brock struck a dashing pose, propping up his chin.
"Thank you, Brock!" Lucy was too shy to look him in the eye.
"Are you here on vacation too, Lucy?" After treating Seviper, Brock began focusing his attention on Lucy.
"Yes. After spending so long working as a Frontier Brain in the Battle Frontier, I sometimes want to get out and travel."
"Then, if you don't mind, would you like to travel with me?"
"Of course, Brock!"
