Charizard towered over Minccino, so much larger that Minccino could not see all of him even when he looked up.
"Minccino, size has nothing to do with strength! Use Tail Slap!"
"Charizard, counter with Dragon Tail!"
The claim that size had nothing to do with strength was true to an extent, but only when both sides used special attacks. In close combat like this, size was definitely a deciding factor.
Before Minccino's little tail could even reach him, Charizard's enormous Dragon Tail slammed him to the ground.
"I didn't expect Minccino to go down in one hit. Helioptile, go!" Taichi sent Helioptile out as his second Pokémon.
"Charizard, use Dragon Tail again!"
Helioptile was about the same size as Minccino, so a hit from Dragon Tail might knock him out in one blow too.
But Helioptile seemed faster than Minccino. He darted from side to side and dodged Dragon Tail in no time.
"The same move never works twice on a Saint Seiya!" Taichi puffed out his chest and declared smugly.
"A Saint Seiya?" I racked my brains but could not understand.
"Haha! Sorry, I've been watching an anime called Saint Seiya in my free time lately. I got a little carried away and quoted one of its famous lines."
"Helioptile, attack with Electro Ball!"
Charizard was catching his breath after that fierce attack, leaving him unprepared for Helioptile's Electro Ball.
"Charizard, fly up and dodge!"
Charizard immediately beat his wings and rose into the air, but Electro Ball followed his flight path.
"It's no use! Electro Ball always hits its target!" Despite his best efforts, Charizard could not escape Electro Ball. Fortunately, at his level, he could withstand the attack.
"Good job, Charizard! You held on! Get some distance and counter with Flamethrower!" Roaring flames poured from Charizard's mouth.
