Koffing was hardly a rare Pokémon. Traces of it could generally be found on the outskirts of industrial districts.

It was said that this Pokémon had originally been pollutants produced by human industrial chemistry, which later came into accidental contact with a meteorite from outer space.

The peculiar energy pulses within the meteorite combined with the pollutants, triggering a remarkable chemical reaction that caused a mutation. That was how the present-day Koffing came to be; it could more or less be considered a human-made Pokémon.

As far as its role in battle went, this Pokémon was also an excellent support.

It could perform well in both Double Battles and defensive rotations in team-based Single Battles. Its appearance was simply too unappealing, though, so few people seriously bothered to catch and train one; most Pokémon Trainers cared about looks just as much as Ash did.

In a one-on-one Single Battle, this Poison-type Pokémon, with its respectable defense, could also torment its opponent with a whole arsenal of dirty poison tricks.

Of course, that only worked against Pokémon that were not Steel-types, since Steel-type Pokémon were immune to poisoning.

What was more, its opponent was an evolved Steel-type Pokémon. Not only were its Poison-type moves practically useless, but the gap between their base stats was enormous. No matter how one looked at it, Koffing could not possibly be a match for Scizor.

The homeroom teacher sending out a Pokémon like this was undoubtedly suicidal.

Thus, the proud Xiao Nan immediately took offense. His brows knitted slightly as he asked, "Sir, what is this supposed to mean? Are you looking down on me?"

"Beat it first, then we'll talk," Shen Xunge replied with complete confidence.

This was his response to Xiao Nan's earlier declaration of battle. Well, their homeroom teacher was unexpectedly childish.
