As the saying went, "Even heroes fall for beautiful women."
Then I guess my hero rating was still too high.
"Um... I could help you cook and clean?" she answered, tilting her head slightly.
Were you applying to be a housewife?!
No, no, no. Your whole premise was wrong to begin with.
"Don't assume geniuses are all helpless wrecks who can't look after themselves! I'm great at cooking and cleaning!" In fact, I did most of the cleaning at the Sycamore Pokémon Lab. If I left it to the professor, he would only do a slapdash job...
Come to think of it, though, I did enjoy cleaning more than I would have expected. Seeing everything neat, tidy, and spotless was immensely satisfying.
"I don't think geniuses are bad at looking after themselves. They're just too busy to spend time on that sort of thing. Think about it. If you were working on research that could affect the happiness of all humanity, how would you have time to worry about your own little problems?"
Hiyori nodded, only half understanding.
"A professor at university once gave me this analogy: doing scientific experiments is really just like cooking. First, you picture the result you want-the dish-then design the procedure-the recipe-to achieve it. If something unexpected happens, you use your experience to fine-tune the quantities of chemicals-or ingredients. Put simply, synthesizing a chemical isn't all that different from cooking a dish. So I think every first-rate scientist would be a first-rate chef, too..."
I noticed Hiyori staring blankly at me.
Oh no. My bad habit had slipped out again.
Maybe it was because I usually had so few people to talk to, but whenever I got the chance, I tended to launch into a long, rapid-fire monologue without meaning to.
Suddenly, as though she
