Lapras and Vaporeon attacked Lugia in vain with repeated blasts of Frost Breath and Water Gun, but the fierce winds and the difference in altitude made their attacks almost no threat at all. Gyarados struggled on defiantly, trying to use Bite on Lugia. With a flick of his clawed foot, Lugia hurled Gyarados at Lapras. Agility was not Lapras's strong suit, and he could not dodge Gyarados's enormous body in time. They collided head-on, and both were knocked out.

Yet Lugia's pristine feathers still shone with undiminished luster. That fierce battle seemed to have been nothing more than a warm-up for him, while Vaporeon was my only partner still able to fight.

Vaporeon swished his long tail and answered with a cry. My fists clenched. That's right! Even my partners, who put their trust in me, haven't given up! If I keep dwelling on my mistakes, won't all their efforts have been for nothing?
Looking at the Poké Balls on my belt, then at Vaporeon, I rallied my spirits once more. "Let's do this, Vaporeon!" Moisture in the air
