Once Pokémon entered a ball and came into contact with people, they began seeking a connection. I felt as though I had heard a story like that somewhere before. Incidentally, this little one's desire for that connection seemed particularly strong. Being alone frightened him a little.
"What did you mean by what you just said?"
I told Dawn, who still hadn't caught on, the story Ralts had translated for me. Baina seemed to have already guessed.
"So that's what happened... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..."
After hearing the story, Dawn immediately gathered Shuppet into her arms.
Those apologies probably carried all kinds of meanings.
"Then your first assignment, Dawn, is to spend three days here in White Body Forest working together with your Pokémon, without putting any of them in their Poké Balls."
Why couldn't she put them in their Poké Balls? It was so she could learn each Pokémon's personality, along with their likes and dislikes.
Originally, I hadn't wanted to set a deadline, but if she truly loved her Pokémon, she could probably get a grasp of those things.
How she spent those three days was entirely up to Dawn. She could go into town for supplies if she needed to.
"Understood! I'll do my best!"
Her spirited voice echoed through White Body Forest.
"Baina, do you know your Pokémon's individual personalities?"
Curious, I asked Baina that question on our way back to Botai City.
"Well, yes. I get a general feeling that this one's like this, and so on... Is there some secret to it?"
Just what I'd expect from a Champion.
No, actually, that way of looking at things didn't seem to exist in this world.
Pokémon didn't tell their Trainers things like what they wanted to do or eat, so people apparently hadn't paid
