Xiao Yan attended the Indigo League opening ceremony, drew the Grass Battle Arena for his first match, and defeated Xiao Shan in a three-minute battle. He advanced in the tournament after Ivysaur, Snorlax, and Golduck beat Xiao Shan’s three Pokémon.
