"Professor Sycamore, nice to meet you. My name is Xiao Yan. I'm a Trainer from Pallet Town in Kanto, and I arrived here today."
After getting off the plane, Xiao Yan had arrived at the Sycamore Pokémon Lab and was introducing himself to the professor.
"I've heard about you from Professor Oak. You're his grandson, and you were the champion of the last Indigo League tournament. It's a pleasure to meet you!"
"It's a pleasure to meet you too!"
"Now, come out to the yard with me. I'll introduce you to the Pokémon here. Tao Li, please keep an eye on Garchomp for me."
"Of course."
After watching Professor Sycamore and the others leave, Tao Li suddenly spotted two suspicious figures standing behind the assistant.
"Sorry, but we'll need you to sleep for a while!"
A moment later, the assistant, Tao Li, lay asleep on the floor.
"So these are the Mega Stone and Garchomp... Let's take them back to the boss!"
"So these are the Pokémon of Kalos. They're amazing!"
Xiao Yan let his Pokémon out to show them to the professor.
"There are so many Pokémon here that I've never seen before."
Xiao Yan diligently took out his Pokédex and registered them one by one.
"ROAR!!!"
A tremendous noise suddenly came from the lab.
"That's Garchomp's voice!!!"
Everyone immediately ran into the lab to investigate.
"Watch out! Someone's coming!"
The two mysterious figures were just about to escape with Garchomp.
"Flamethrower!"
A blast of flame knocked the two mysterious figures to the floor.
"Garchomp, you've undergone Mega Evolution?!"
Delighted, the professor moved to hug Garchomp.
"Professor!!!" The next second, Garchomp sent the professor flying and escaped through the window.
"Something's clearly wrong with Garchomp. I'll follow and take a look!"
"Wait! Xiao Yan!"
Xiao Yan climbed onto Charizard and rushed out ahead of everyone.
"That Garchomp looks so unusual..."
"Why is he climbing to the top of the tower?"
"That's so dangerous..."
A crowd gathered below the tower, watching the rampaging Mega Garchomp at the top of Prism Tower.
"Charizard, take me up there!"
Xiao Yan and Charizard flew to the top of the tower.
"We're currently filming from a helicopter circling above Prism Tower. The rampaging Garchomp is battling a Charizard at the top of the tower, and the person behind Charizard appears to be its Trainer."
"That's... Xiao Yan?!"
Serena anxiously watched Xiao Yan on the news.
"Fire Blast!"
Garchomp and Charizard fought at the top of the tower. Suddenly, Garchomp fired a Hyper Beam at Xiao Yan, who stood off to one side.
"ROAR!"
Charizard took the attack to protect Xiao Yan and was sent flying by the Hyper Beam, plummeting from high above.
"Charizard!!!"
Xiao Yan jumped off the tower after Charizard.
"That's strange. It was so noisy down below just a few seconds ago. Why is it so quiet now?"
Xiao Yan knew he was falling, but the air seemed to have frozen. The people below were motionless, as though time had stopped.
"Ah!"
Suddenly, a series of images appeared in Xiao Yan's mind.
"Is that... me as a child?"
In those images, Xiao Yan happily received his seventh birthday present from his parents. When he unwrapped it, he found a Charmander plush inside. That plush stayed with him while he slept and ate, through the despair after his parents' car accident, and through countless battles.
"That Charmander plush was you?!"
Charizard silently gazed into Xiao Yan's eyes, and Xiao Yan reached out to touch Charizard.
"So we've been together ever since that moment. I'll be counting on you from now on too. Right now, we're going to survive this together!"
At that moment, Xiao Yan's bracelet and the Mega Stone on Charizard's collar resonated with each other, releasing a white light that enveloped them both.
What's happening? My heart's pounding, and power keeps surging through me.
The next second, the white light around them faded. Xiao Yan opened his eyes and found himself riding on Charizard's back. The only difference was that Charizard's form had changed.
This black body, and the blue flames coming from both corners of the mouth... Is this Mega Evolution?!
After undergoing Mega Evolution, Mega Charizard X carried Xiao Yan back to the top of Prism Tower to face the out-of-control Mega Garchomp once again.
"Fire Punch!"
Mega Charizard X swiftly knocked Mega Garchomp to the ground with a fist wreathed in blue flames. Garchomp then reverted from Mega Evolution.
"Charizard, you've gotten even stronger!"
After the battle, Mega Charizard X carried Xiao Yan on its back and held Garchomp in its claws as it returned safely to the ground.
"Xiao Yan!"
The professor arrived at the scene.
"Garchomp, are you all right?"
Professor Sycamore hurriedly helped Garchomp up from the ground.
Garchomp let out a cry.
Looks like he's back to normal.
"Thanks for your hard work, Charizard," Xiao Yan said, recalling Charizard after its Mega Evolution ended.
"Thank you for saving Garchomp. It's getting dark now, so if you don't mind, why not stay at my lab tonight?"
"Thank you so much, Professor!"
"That scared me to death..."
"Serena, it's almost bedtime! Aren't you going to see Professor Sycamore tomorrow to get your starter Pokémon?"
"I know!"
Serena turned off the television and returned to her room.
"Xiao Yan, you've come to Kalos too..."
Lying in bed, Serena looked at the group photo taken at Pokémon summer camp.
Everyone in the photo was smiling happily.
"I have a feeling something good will happen tomorrow."
Xiao Yan placed several Pokémon Balls on the table.
"I just couldn't bear to leave you all with Professor Oak, so I brought you along. I'll be counting on you from here on out too!"
