In the jungle of the Third Nature Reserve, Electrike and Houndoom were trading moves. A closer look, however, revealed that Houndoom was repeatedly attacking Electrike with Flamethrower and Firearm, while Electrike could only evade its attacks with Agility and nimble footwork.
At last, Houndoom seized an opening. It predicted where Electrike would land and unleashed Flamethrower at that spot just as Electrike darted aside. Unable to dodge in time, Electrike took a direct hit. Fortunately, Ball Lightning protected its body, and the Electric Garment covering it absorbed most of the damage. The attack had actually done very little harm.
Even so, Electrike's speed dropped sharply. If it had stopped long enough for a closer look, the skin on the right side of its lower leg would have been visibly charred. Although the Electric Garment had blocked most of the damage from Flamethrower, Houndoom's attack had still taken its toll.
Houndoom had gained a slight advantage in its battle against Electrike through its ability to predict its opponent's movements.
Meanwhile, Kaka and Metagross were still fighting fiercely. Compared with Electrike, Kaka was having a much less difficult time. With Burst Aura active, he could actually stand toe-to-toe with Team Rocket's Metagross. For the moment, Metagross could only endure his attacks, but its formidable defenses still kept him from making any headway.
With Burst Aura active, Kaka's physical capabilities soared, and all his abilities improved considerably. He could actually hold his own against Metagross, even seeming to gain a slight advantage.
Still, the battle remained far from promising!
