Wang Zhixian had a very solid team. Both his hard-hitting Slaking and his exceptional tank, Blissey, were powerful enough to compete in the Academy Tournament. His trump card, a Venusaur capable of Mega Evolution, raised his team's baseline strength. Even if Slaking failed to deliver, his Mega-Evolved Venusaur could still hold the line. With a trump card like that, he had more than enough to become a full-fledged member of the Academy Tournament team.
Teams in the Academy Tournament needed six Pokémon, but all the competitors were still students, so their experience with Pokémon was fairly limited. Anyone who could assemble three powerful Pokémon fit for battle already counted as an outstanding team member. Wang Zhixian's other three Pokémon were only there to fill out his roster. Even Zhuo Yue, the captain, had only raised four excellent Pokémon. This was nothing unusual.
After watching Wang Zhixian and Zhuo Yue's battle, Chu Xin had a lot on his mind. He had previously felt a little disappointed about not making the Academy Tournament team, but now he could see that his strength simply wasn't enough. Even Xiao Wu could only fight Wang Zhixian's Blissey to a draw at present, and defeating Blissey would take a tremendous effort. As for Slaking and Mega-Evolved Venusaur, he could forget about them.
At that thought, Chu Xin sighed helplessly. He was still too weak. There was no need to worry, though. Wang Zhixian was a fifth-year senior, while he was only a second-year student. By the time he reached Wang Zhixian's age, Chu Xin didn't believe he would be any weaker than Wang Zhixian was now. He still had great confidence in his Pokémon!
Next, Wang Zhixian and Zhuo Yue said goodbye to Chu Xin and headed to the Academy Tournament team's dedicated training room together.
