Kaka's First Battle

Zhuo Xing's expression soured a little at the Farfetch'd Chu Xin had sent out. Sending a Farfetch'd into battle was rather insulting.

"I won't hold back! Abra, use Psychic!"

Blue light began radiating from Abra and shot toward Kaka, but he dodged it easily.

Why assume Farfetch'd were weak? After two months of training, Kaka was no longer the feeble Pokémon he had once been. He could fight now, and combined with his incredible talent, that was enough to catch careless Pokémon off guard. Abra was a perfect example.

"There are no weak Pokémon, and Farfetch'd are no exception! Kaka, teach her a lesson."

At Chu Xin's command, Kaka took a fighting stance with his leek in hand. The aura that suddenly rose from him was as sharp as a blade, leaving even Zhuo Xing momentarily rattled.

Chu Xin was right. This was definitely no ordinary Pokémon.

"Kaka, Cut!"

At Chu Xin's command, Kaka closed in on his opponent at incredible speed. Before Abra could react, he swung the leek in his hand forward like a blade.

"Abra, Protect!"

A faint glow appeared around Abra. In his haste, Zhuo Xing hoped Protect would block Farfetch'd's attack, but it was useless.

Kaka's leek seemed to ignore Protect altogether. In a flash, Cut shattered the barrier and slashed into Abra's neck, sending Abra flying and knocking the Pokémon unconscious with a single blow.

"What?! How is that possible?!"

Watching from the sidelines, Bai Yuan stared dumbfounded at the Farfetch'd still holding his finishing stance and swallowed. Was this monster really a Farfetch'd? Weren't those just ingredients? How could one be so strong?!

The sight of Farfetch'd's attack ignoring Protect replayed in Bai Yuan's mind. As far as he knew, breaking through Protect usually required an attacker of a higher tier. What he had just witnessed left his mind blank.

My Scyther couldn't break through Abra's Protect, but Farfetch'd could. Did that mean my Scyther was weaker than a Farfetch'd?!

Why did it feel like the gap between Chu Xin and me had only grown wider after two months of training?!

Was this really a Farfetch'd?

Zhuo Xing finally came to his senses, still unable to believe what he had seen. In the end, he recalled Abra into a Poké Ball for safety, his eyes full of frustration as he looked at Chu Xin.

"I lost again! But I'll definitely win next time!"

Then Zhuo Xing looked at Kaka, who was still on the battlefield, disbelief lingering in his eyes.

"My turn, my turn! If you're done, it's my turn to go, right?!"

Bai Yuan loudly urged Zhuo Xing on from the sidelines. He was intensely curious about Kaka. How could a Farfetch'd be so powerful?

He could learn nothing just by watching from the sidelines. Only by facing that Farfetch'd himself could he get a feel for his true strength.

"I'll be using Scyther again. You should be pretty familiar with him by now. Are you sticking with this Farfetch'd?"

"Yeah, I'll keep Kaka in."

Chu Xin nodded, choosing to battle with Kaka again.

After two months of training, Bai Yuan's Scyther carried himself very differently and seemed much stronger. Judging by their presence alone, Kaka did seem to be at a disadvantage.

After the two Pokémon stared each other down for a while, Bai Yuan's Scyther attacked first, charging at Kaka with his two huge scythes swinging. Those scythes were his primary weapons, and Bai Yuan's Scyther wielded them with exceptional skill. He unleashed an unbroken stream of attacks at Kaka, but no matter how tricky the angle, Kaka blocked every strike with his leek.

Suddenly, Scyther's movements faltered. His relentless attacks had finally exposed an opening, and a thin line connected to Scyther's neck appeared before Kaka's eyes.

Now!

Kaka suddenly drove his leek forward, forcing the unprepared Scyther back. Then he lunged into Scyther's exposed guard, thrusting his leek straight at his neck. One strike was all he needed!

"Dodge!"

Hearing Bai Yuan's command in his panic, Scyther did everything he could to evade Kaka's attack. He narrowly dodged the blow, then leaped backward and resumed his stance.

Though Scyther had regained his fighting stance after escaping that devastating attack, his eyes were full of terror as he looked at Kaka. That single strike could have defeated him!

Bai Yuan, who was directing him, was also drenched in cold sweat. What kind of monster was that Farfetch'd?! He had a gut feeling that the attack just now would have defeated Scyther in one hit, leaving him to follow in Zhuo Xing's footsteps. How was he supposed to fight something that only needed one strike?!

With his leek in hand, Kaka showed no discouragement when his attack missed. If one strike failed, he would wait for another opening.

He brazenly pointed his leek at the flustered Scyther, fixing him with a sharp gaze.

I'm no longer a Pokémon anyone can slaughter at will. Now I can fight, too!

"Quack, quack!" (Come cross blades with me!)

Kaka's fierce presence startled Scyther, but that fear was quickly replaced by humiliation. Since when had he, a Scyther, been afraid of an ingredient?!

Bai Yuan noticed Scyther's emotions from the sidelines and could only order him forward.

"Be careful. Don't let him land a hit."

Scyther and Kaka clashed once again on the battlefield, Scyther's two scythes and Kaka's leek swinging and colliding countless times.

There was no denying that Bai Yuan's Scyther had improved tremendously. Without revealing his trump card, Kaka really could not defeat him quickly.

Still, this was already a very good result. Being able to fight for so long showed that his training had paid off. It was time to end the battle.

"Kaka, use your finishing move!"

At Chu Xin's command, Kaka knocked Scyther back with his leek, then closed his eyes and drew the leek back as though sheathing a blade, standing calmly in place.

Mind's Eye, activate!

Bai Yuan stared at Kaka on the battlefield in bewilderment. What kind of move was this?

Even Scyther, who was in the middle of fighting him, stared at his opponent in confusion, unsure what to do.

"Don't be afraid. Go in and test him first."

At Bai Yuan's command, Scyther cautiously approached Kaka, but Kaka still did not move.

Had he given up on fighting?

Just as Scyther hesitated, Kaka's eyes snapped open. His leek swung toward Scyther's neck at astonishing speed. Even on his guard, Scyther failed to block it, and the single strike knocked him unconscious.
