Jiang Feng remembered that the mount of Chen Zidian, the legendary leader of the Demon God's Fall Demon Hunt Group, was a red dragon.
However, Jiang Feng's red dragon was different from that one.
Chen Zidian's mount was an exceedingly rare pure-blooded member of the Dragon Race. Over fifty meters long, it was a genuine Level-Ten Dragon King.
Jiang Feng's red dragon, meanwhile, was called a Red Lotus Demon Dragon-a type of dragon that had gone extinct during the primordial era. It was no ordinary magical beast; its bloodline had already reached the level of a divine beast.
Jiang Feng marveled at how well those ten thousand System Coins had been spent. He could earn more System Coins, but a divine beast mount was something money alone could never guarantee.
Jiang Xinran fixed her beautiful eyes on the little creature and said, "Jiang Feng, give it a name."
Jiang Feng smiled. "Let's call it Dragon Baby."
Jiang Xinran couldn't help shooting Jiang Feng a look. "You really didn't put any thought into that."
Before Jiang Feng could argue, however, Jiang Xinran had already scooped Dragon Baby into her hands, her affection plain to see.
"Little one, how are you so beautiful?" Jiang Xinran held Dragon Baby before her eyes, admiring its magnificent scales and majestic body as she exclaimed in wonder.
Dragon Baby wasn't shy around strangers either. Its golden eyes watched Jiang Xinran as it let out little whimpers.
"Come on. Pack up; it's time to get going." Seeing this, Jiang Feng couldn't be bothered to intervene. They had already formed a blood pact, after all. What did he have to fear from someone stealing it away?
"Okay, okay," Jiang Xinran hurriedly agreed. Then she asked excitedly, "Jiang Feng, so you really can hatch dragon eggs! That's amazing. How did you do it?"
"You're the one who hatches dragon eggs," Jiang Feng said. "It hatched on its own."
"I don't believe you. Nobody else even knew what it was, so how did it hatch into a little dragon after just one night with you?" Jiang Xinran challenged him while playing with Dragon Baby.
"Believe whatever you want."
"Come on, tell me. I want to find a dragon egg too and hatch a little dragon to keep as a pet," Jiang Xinran said excitedly.
"You think dragon eggs are that easy to find? You probably couldn't find a second one in the entire Alliance," Jiang Feng said, dashing her hopes.
"Then what am I supposed to do? I really want one too," Jiang Xinran said.
"Just wait. Once I'm invincible, I'll go to the Demon Race's territory and catch you a Heaven-Defying Demon Dragon hatchling," Jiang Feng promised grandly.
"How long will that take?" Jiang Xinran pouted.
Jiang Feng said nothing. Clearly, Jiang Xinran had only mentioned it in passing and hadn't taken it to heart.
When the two reached the hotel restaurant, Yang Zhan and Wang Zhen were already seated and eating.
Jiang Feng and Jiang Xinran began their meal. Dragon Baby looked at the food before them and whimpered.
"Jiang Feng, what should we feed it?" Jiang Xinran asked.
Jiang Feng looked at his food, then remembered that he still had two magic crystals. He took out the Jade-Green Twin-Blade Demon's magic crystal and placed it before Dragon Baby.
To everyone's surprise, Dragon Baby popped the Fifth Order magic crystal into its mouth in one bite, crunching it up and swallowing it. Crispy, with a chicken flavor.
"Jiang Feng, was that a Fifth Order magic crystal?" Yang Zhan exclaimed from across the table.
A Fifth Order magic crystal was worth two thousand gold coins, and it had vanished in a single bite.
"Yes." Jiang Feng nodded calmly. "Dragon Baby has a good appetite. It can digest it."
Yang Zhan and Wang Zhen stared in astonishment at Jiang Feng's Dragon Baby, which lay on the dining table. Even though they had never seen a real member of the Dragon Race, they could tell this was a dragon.
"Is this your mount?" Yang Zhan asked.
"Yes." Jiang Feng nodded.
The two were utterly astonished. Hadn't he said he didn't have a mount before? Where had this dragon suddenly come from?
Although the dragon was still tiny and newly hatched, everyone knew how astounding the Dragon Race's potential was. Upon reaching adulthood, it would certainly become a Level-Nine Magical Beast. With another breakthrough, it would reach level ten, comparable to a Ninth-Rank Human Professional.
The ninth rank-that was the very pinnacle of power on the entire continent.
Although both men were warriors, they were so jealous their dicks were practically turning purple.
After finishing breakfast, the group set off for Holy City.
On the way, Yan noticed the little creature and exclaimed in surprise, "Jiang Feng, this little dragon of yours is extraordinary. Its potential is limitless. Once it grows up, it'll be a tremendous help to you."
Jiang Feng laughed. "That's only if I can afford to raise it."
After eating that Fifth Order magic crystal earlier, Dragon Baby had actually sent Jiang Feng this message: Tasty, but not enough.
However, Jiang Feng had only one Sixth Order magic crystal left. Naturally, he couldn't use it all up at once, so he could only feed Dragon Baby ordinary food to fill its belly. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to afford its upkeep.
Jiang Feng beckoned, and Dragon Baby, which had been lying on Jiang Xinran's shoulder, immediately spread its wings and flew into his hand.
"Ah, you're having a hard time with me," Jiang Feng sighed.
Dragon Baby whimpered and affectionately nuzzled Jiang Feng's neck.
"You're such a good little thing. Once we step onto the battlefield, the magic crystals of countless members of the Demon Race will become your food." Jiang Feng smiled.
Two days later, Jiang Feng's group arrived in Holy City, the headquarters of the Temple Alliance.
Holy City was a hexagonal city, symbolizing the Six Great Temples. It was also the most prosperous city in the Temple Alliance and contained three famous buildings.
The Alliance Executive Government, the Temple Alliance Grand Auction House, and the Temple Alliance Grand Trial Grounds.
The Temple Alliance Grand Trial Grounds were where Jiang Feng and the others would take part in the Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament. After becoming a Demon Hunt Squad in the future, they would also come here for Demon Hunt Squad Advancement and to accept missions.
The Temple Alliance Grand Trial Grounds were divided into six major areas, with six circular Trial Arenas, each three hundred meters in diameter—one dedicated to each of the Six Great Temples.
In addition, there were the Demon Hunt Squad Mission Tower, the Demon Hunt Squad Trading Center, and the Temple Alliance Treasure Pavilion.
Yan led the four of them into Holy City and straight to the Temple Alliance Grand Trial Grounds to register. Then, before Jiang Feng even noticed, she vanished.
Here, the four split up, each heading to their own temple to report in.
Yang Zhan and Wang Zhen looked reluctantly at Jiang Xinran before finally leaving.
Jiang Xinran and Jiang Feng agreed to meet back here after they finished registering.
As for Yang Zhan and Wang Zhen, although they all came from the same place, they hadn't grown close during their days together. Because of Jiang Feng's relationship with Jiang Xinran, the two had kept their distance from him.
Jiang Feng didn't take it to heart, though, and Jiang Xinran couldn't be bothered to concern herself with it. Besides, the two men's cultivation levels weren't high, so they would undoubtedly struggle to qualify in the Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament. They wouldn't even move in the same circles in the future, so why worry so much about it?
Jiang Feng completed his registration at the Knight Temple's registration office and received a Knight Temple Competitor Token. Following the directions afterward, he checked into a hotel near the Grand Trial Grounds arranged by the Knight Temple to await the tournament.
Jiang Feng vaguely remembered that this Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament could be considered the fiercest in a hundred years, thanks to the emergence of numerous Fifth Order experts.
Not only were Long Haochen, the Child of Light, and Sheng Cai'er, the Reincarnation Saintess, competing, but contestants like Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi also possessed the strength to have won previous tournaments.
Chen Ying'er, the Soul Saintess, could be disregarded.
Counting Long Haochen, who was about to break through, the Knight Temple would have six Fifth Order Knights. It was easy to imagine how fierce the competition would be.
There were still two days before the tournament began. Jiang Feng was in no hurry and went to their agreed meeting place to wait for Jiang Xinran.
Now that they had arrived in Holy City, they certainly had to look around properly. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in the mood for sightseeing after losing the tournament.
Of course, both Jiang Feng and Jiang Xinran were confident they could pass the preliminary round. He was going out because he wanted to buy a few things.
I've created three character profiles. Everyone can go take a look.
