Background / History
Long Haochen trained against Long Xingyu, the Divine Seal Knight of Judgment and Adjudication, and learned Divine Guard Block before his squire assessment. He later appears under Ye Hua’s guidance during the Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament 20 22.
According to Jiang Feng’s recollection, Long Haochen failed to obtain a mount directly at the Knight Sacred Mountain. The eighth-tier King of Star Unicorn did not believe he could protect it. He instead contracted with Haoyue through the mountain’s teleportation array 5.
Appearance
- Face: Exceptionally handsome, with delicate features; the narration remarks that he could pass for a peerless beauty in women’s clothing 49.
- Hair and clothing: Wears a fitted outfit with his black hair tied behind his head when encountered alongside Sheng Cai’er 38.
- Contract mark: A purple-gold rune between his brows spreads into nine streaks of purple light when Haoyue appears at the auction 13.
Personality
Long Haochen combines courtesy with considerable competitive confidence. He blushes at Lin Xin’s extravagant praise, apologizes when Haoyue lunges for Jiang Feng’s purchase, and accepts Jiang Feng’s refusal to resell it before comforting his companion 12 13 14.
He follows Ye Hua’s instruction never to lose confidence against a stronger opponent. With his tournament finals place secured, he actively seeks a demanding duel against Yang Wenzhao and regards both Yang Wenzhao and Jiang Feng as his greatest opponents 19 20.
His determination can become dangerous self-sacrifice. Against Yang Wenzhao, he burns his blood and vitality to unleash his strongest attack despite the risk of lasting harm. Yang Wenzhao admires his courage but questions why he would endanger himself so severely in a tournament match 20 24.
Abilities & Skills
Child of Light
- Possesses 97 points of innate spiritual power, marking him as an exceptional cultivation talent within the Knight Temple 20 50.
- Yang Haoyu considers his cultivation talent substantially greater than Jiang Feng’s, whose innate spiritual power is 80 50.
- His talent does not erase differences in age or cultivation: at peak Fourth Order, he cannot normally match Yang Wenzhao’s Fifth Order strength 20.
Swordsmanship
- Normally uses a sword and shield, but switches to two swords for his Retribution Knight duel against Yang Wenzhao 20.
- Combines Holy Sword with Spiral Slaughter Sword for his strongest available finishing attack during that match 20.
- Defeats the Fifth Order Han Yu by enduring initial pressure and exploiting an opening for a decisive counterattack 19.
Divine Guard Block
- Learned the technique before his squire assessment and uses it during the selection tournament 22.
- Although the Knight Temple ordinarily restricts instruction to Sixth Order Radiant Knights, lower-ranked knights can learn it with sufficient talent, judgment, reflexes, and guidance from a Sixth Order or higher knight 22.
Sacrifice
- A Seventh Order Temple Knight skill that temporarily raises his combat strength enough to fight Yang Wenzhao head-on 20.
- Burns blood essence and vitality; its use alarms Han Ci and makes Yang Wenzhao fear that Long Haochen could cripple himself 20.
- Leaves him unable to speak after the decisive clash. He subsequently vomits blood and loses consciousness despite receiving Holy Healing Art 20 21.
Holy Guidance Spirit Furnace
- Uses the furnace to release Lock-On, a Sixth Order knight skill, before his Holy Sword-enhanced Spiral Slaughter Sword 20.
- This combined attack forces Yang Wenzhao to answer with his Star Sea Spiritual Furnace 20.
Blood Pact with Haoyue
- Shares a Blood Pact with his mount and companion, Haoyue 20.
- At the auction, Haoyue manifests through the rune between Long Haochen’s brows and later returns to his space 13 14.
- Jiang Feng understands that Long Haochen’s death would also kill Haoyue’s destructive identity, Austin Griffin, making their bond a potential safeguard against catastrophe 20.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sword and shield — His usual fighting setup before switching to dual swords against Yang Wenzhao 20.
- Two swords — Used throughout the Yang Wenzhao duel, including his final Spiral Slaughter Sword attack 20.
- Pills from Lin Xin — Receives bottles of pills in exchange for answering questions about the magical beasts sold to Lin Xin 13.
Relationships
- Haoyue — Mount and companion. Long Haochen attempts to secure the mysterious stone sphere for him, then comforts him after Jiang Feng refuses to sell it 13 14.
- Ye Hua — Teacher and tournament mentor. Encourages his confidence, helps assess opponents, and carries him away after his collapse 17 18 19 21.
- Long Xingyu — Divine Seal Knight against whom Long Haochen has trained 20.
- Li Xin — Elder-sister figure and fellow Haoyue City contestant. Calls him her little brother and assists Ye Hua after his duel 19 21 31.
- Sheng Cai’er — Shares an affectionate bond with him. She calls him the only person she cares about and independently attacks Yang Wenzhao after learning of his injuries 24 31.
- Jiang Feng — Acquaintance and tournament rival. Their initial meetings are friendly, but Jiang Feng temporarily distances himself after being injured during the fallout from Cai’er’s revenge 17 20 30.
- Yang Wenzhao — Stronger tournament opponent who defeats him and expresses genuine admiration for his courage and potential 20 21 24.
- Lin Xin — Auction acquaintance who hopes Long Haochen will select him as a teammate if he earns a top-three tournament placement 12 29 30.
- Han Yu — Defeated preliminary-round opponent; later escorts him to the Treasure Pavilion on Han Ci’s orders 19 49.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Aimei City Auction
Long Haochen meets Jiang Feng and Jiang Xinran while Lin Xin is negotiating over a Jade-Green Twin-Blade Demon corpse. Lin Xin brings the group into his private auction box 12.
Haoyue appears when a mysterious stone sphere is offered for sale, but Jiang Feng buys it before Long Haochen can bid. After Haoyue attempts to seize it, Long Haochen apologizes and offers to purchase it at a higher price. Jiang Feng refuses because the sphere is essential to his own plans 13 14.
Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament
Long Haochen defeats Han Yu and advances into the Knight Temple’s top ten alongside Li Xin. Their success makes the two Haoyue City entrants notable dark horses 19.
In the ranking tournament, he faces Yang Wenzhao without summoning Haoyue. Sacrifice and his strongest sword attack force Yang Wenzhao to use his Spirit Furnace, but Long Haochen loses and collapses after the match 20 21 24.
Cai’er attacks Yang Wenzhao while Long Haochen remains unconscious, explicitly stating that she acted alone. Jiang Feng intervenes, and Saint Moon’s subsequent attack on Jiang Feng turns the incident into a dispute between senior figures of the Knight and Assassin Temples 24 25 26.
Long Haochen later attends the finals gathering and reunites warmly with Cai’er. By his Treasure Pavilion visit, he is identified as an Earth Knight, with Han Yu escorting him to claim his reward 30 31 49.
Differences from Jiang Feng’s Remembered Story
- Dragon Core: Jiang Feng remembers Haoyue consuming the auctioned core, growing a third head, and becoming a sixth-level magical beast that helped Long Haochen win the selection tournament. Jiang Feng’s purchase prevents that specific sequence from occurring as remembered 14.
- Haoyue’s evolution: Haoyue’s continued absence from the tournament makes Jiang Feng wonder whether he has found another opportunity to evolve; no such evolution is confirmed in these passages 20.
- Apocalypse: Jiang Feng recalls Long Haochen awakening Haoyue’s consciousness through love, eliminating the Head of Destruction and averting catastrophe. He treats this as knowledge of the original story, not a guaranteed outcome in the altered world 3.
