Within five minutes, Sima Xian was forced to concede. He had been utterly crushed in this fight.
Even after going berserk, Sima Xian was no match for the Hell Three-Headed Dog Feng Li had summoned.
"Fifth match of round eight of the Round-Robin Tournament: Feng Li wins!" the referee announced loudly.
Sima Xian left the Trial Arena with fear still lingering in his heart. Even now, the thought of the Hell Three-Headed Dog's hideous, bloodstained maws made his scalp prickle. It was far too savage.
Feng Li said nothing as she slowly walked out of the Trial Arena.
Jiang Feng watched her retreating figure with interest. He thought tomorrow's battle ought to be quite entertaining.
"Brother Jiang, what do you think? Did it scare you?" Lin Xin had stayed with Jiang Feng through the last match and now asked for his impressions.
Jiang Feng nodded and said, "That Hell Three-Headed Dog is very strong. It's at mid-level six, and its hide is thick and tough. I'd say its external spiritual power is no lower than a thousand."
Lin Xin was rather surprised to hear Jiang Feng's words. In that case, there was no shame in his loss.
"How confident are you that you can win?"
"Ninety-eight percent." Jiang Feng thought for a moment before answering honestly.
"Ninety-eight percent! How modest of you. Why not just say a hundred percent?" Lin Xin clearly did not believe him.
"I was being a little modest. I said ninety-eight percent because I'm not sure whether Feng Li has only that one summoned beast." Jiang Feng chuckled. "She couldn't even beat Wang Ming. How could she possibly beat me?"
"Then I'll look forward to your performance tomorrow, Brother Jiang," Lin Xin said with a smile.
With round eight of the Round-Robin Tournament over, Jiang Feng returned to the hotel.
He had intended to invite Jiang Xinran to eat with him, but he saw a warning sign hanging on her door: "Cultivating. Please do not disturb."
Jiang Feng smiled. If that girl had worked this hard before, she certainly would not still be lingering at the peak of the fourth order.
Still, Jiang Xinran clearly felt a sense of urgency now, and her attitude toward cultivation had become much more serious.
With Jiang Xinran cultivating, Jiang Feng could only go to the hotel restaurant alone.
As luck would have it, Jiang Feng ran into Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi, his fellow members of the Knight Temple, while eating.
Jiang Feng went over to share their table, and the three were soon chatting.
"Martial Uncle, how have you been doing in the Round-Robin Tournament?" Yang Wenzhao asked.
"Not bad. Eight straight wins." Jiang Feng smiled. "You two have been doing well in your groups too, haven't you?"
Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi exchanged a glance. "Yes. We've also won eight in a row, so we're already guaranteed to advance."
"Keep it up. Let's try to make sure all four semifinalists are from our Knight Temple," Jiang Feng said.
"Yes." Both nodded firmly. They hoped to see that happen too.
If all four semifinalists were from the Knight Temple, it was easy to imagine how delighted the temple's senior leadership would be.
Whether for the glory of the knights or the glory of the temple, as members of the Knight Temple's younger generation, they had a duty to strive for that honor.
In Jiang Feng's view, the three of them, along with Long Haochen, were among the strongest competitors in this Demon Hunt Squad Selection Tournament. As long as they did not face one another early, reaching the semifinals would not be too difficult.
Of course, there was one condition: whoever faced Sheng Cai'er in the knockout rounds had to be either Long Haochen or Jiang Feng.
If Long Haochen faced Sheng Cai'er, there was no question that she would rush to concede.
And if Sheng Cai'er faced Jiang Feng, she would lose even if she did not concede, unless she risked her life to use the Reincarnation Spiritual Furnace. Then she might have a slight chance.
But this was only a tournament. How could Saint Moon possibly allow Sheng Cai'er to use the Reincarnation Spiritual Furnace? That was something to use only in a life-or-death struggle.
After agreeing with Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi to meet in the finals, Jiang Feng returned to his room to rest and await his final Round-Robin Tournament match tomorrow.
Early the next morning, warm sunlight bathed the earth.
Jiang Feng opened his door and found that Jiang Xinran was still cultivating. She must truly have reached a crucial point in her breakthrough; otherwise, how could she have remained in meditation for an entire day and night?
Since that was the case, Jiang Feng did not disturb her. After taking care of breakfast himself, he headed to the Knight Trial Grounds.
Once this match was over, Jiang Feng would collect his reward.
Using the refined iron sword forced him to hold back; it simply could not handle Jiang Feng's full strength. He would have to switch to new equipment for the Top Sixteen Tournament, or a match against Long Haochen or Sheng Cai'er would be difficult.
The first match of the day was Sima Xian against Wang Yuanyuan.
By going berserk, Sima Xian managed to hold his own against Wang Yuanyuan for a short time. Their wild fighting styles set the other contestants' blood pumping. This was the very embodiment of brutal beauty!
Both were professionals with outstanding external spiritual power. Rather than a shield warrior fighting a priest, it looked more like an axe warrior fighting a berserker.
The battle between Sima Xian and Wang Yuanyuan was fierce, but once Sima Xian's berserk skill wore off, he fell into a weakened state, and Wang Yuanyuan sent him flying with a chop of her shield.
In the end, Wang Yuanyuan timed her attack to defeat Sima Xian, finishing with six wins, two losses, and one draw.
That was a fairly good record, giving her a chance of advancing to the final stage.
Sima Xian finished with five wins and four losses. With the advantages of his priest status and the boost from his berserk skill, he had won several matches he otherwise should have lost, earning a respectable record.
But that record gave him no chance whatsoever of reaching the Top Sixteen.
The second match was Wang Ming against Chen Ying'er. The unreliable summoner had decent luck this time, summoning a high-level five Iron-Arm Beast.
But Wang Ming showed no mercy against magical beasts. A single blast reduced the level-five Iron-Arm Beast to scraps, securing him an easy victory.
Wang Ming's Round-Robin Tournament record was six draws, two wins, and one loss.
His wins had come against Lin Xin and Chen Ying'er, while his sole loss was to Jiang Feng-a defeat he accepted wholeheartedly.
In truth, his record should not have been that poor. The main problem was that the Mingwang Cannon was too powerful. Against certain opponents, if he dared fire it, they would end up dead right in front of him.
Thus, Wang Ming held out no hope whatsoever of reaching the Top Sixteen.
Chen Ying'er's matches depended entirely on luck, though she really did get lucky at times. Her record was three wins and six losses, putting her chances of summoning a high-level magical beast at around thirty percent.
That left Jiang Feng marveling that the girl's luck was still quite good when it mattered.
Had she not summoned a level-eight Hell Three-Headed Dog in her first match of the preliminary round, she probably would have been eliminated right then. There would have been no smooth sailing afterward.
The third match was Lin Xin against the fourth-order assassin. Their battle added another draw to his record.
Lin Xin finished the Round-Robin Tournament with six draws and three losses, likewise missing out on the Top Sixteen.
"Fourth match of round nine of the Round-Robin Tournament: Jiang Feng against Feng Li."
Jiang Feng stood up. It was finally his turn. He would see just how strong a Dark Attribute summoner could be, finish the fight, then head back to check whether Jiang Xinran had successfully broken through.
Jiang Feng looked toward his opponent, only to find that she did not spare him so much as a glance as she walked straight into the Trial Arena.
"What an aloof girl," Jiang Feng said with a smile.
