Asuma pushed Kakashi with an all-out burst of speed and Wind Release, revealing a new technique that shattered Kakashi’s Kunai and forced him to retreat. Xue Ge noticed that Asuma was smiling as he fought, and the match remained unresolved.
Kakashi defeated Asuma in their match after using clones and a hidden Earth Release technique to evade Asuma’s explosive attack, then ending the fight with Chidori. Asuma accepted the loss but vowed to catch up to Kakashi.
Ameyuri Ringo brutally defeated Ameno in their Chunin Exam match, leaving her seriously wounded and unconscious. Baki vowed to face Ameyuri later, while Xue Ge warned Shisui and Kakashi that she was dangerous and meant them harm.
Shisui defeated Han in the fifth match by layering genjutsu until he could place a kunai at Han’s throat. The sixth match began with Might Guy facing Kisame.
Might Guy and Kisame Hoshigaki faced off in the tournament, trading blows until Guy removed his leg weights and overwhelmed Kisame with his speed. Guy caught Kisame in the Front Lotus and drove him headfirst toward the ground.
Might Guy and Kisame fought fiercely in the arena, with Guy’s taijutsu initially overwhelming Kisame before Kisame used Water Release to keep him at a distance. As Kisame pressed his advantage, Guy opened the Gate of Healing to push beyond his limits.
Might Guy opened the Gate of Life and overwhelmed Kisame with his speed and strength, finishing him with a crushing kick that sent him into the arena wall. After the battle, Shisui reminded Xue Ge and Kakashi that Guy had been saving his final move for them.
Might Guy defeated Kisame with the Eight Gates Released Formation, forcing the first round to pause while the arena was repaired. That night, Pakura thanked Xue Ge for helping a Sunagakure shinobi awaken a kekkei genkai, while Orochimaru discovered that Xue Ge’s cells had extraordinary compatibility with the Three-Tomoe Sharingan and wanted more experimental material.
Orochimaru considered using Xue Ge’s cells to catalyze the evolution of a Three-Tomoe Sharingan. After waking in the hospital, Kisame reflected on his loss to Guy and resolved to prepare for their next fight.
The final two matches of the first round ended with Baki advancing after Muzi conceded and Gari defeating Aoba Yamashiro with his Explosion Release. The eight advancing contestants were named, and the second round was set to begin that morning.
Xue Ge fought Ameyuri Ringo in the first match of the second round, trading blows with her weapons, chakra threads, and ninjutsu. After Ameyuri escaped his binding and injured herself, she grew more frenzied and urged Xue Ge to attack harder.
Xue Ge faced Ameyuri Ringo as she escalated their fight with lightning techniques, then turned the battle around with close-range attacks and his overwhelming killing intent. Ameyuri recovered and became even more determined to make him draw his blade.
Xue Ge confronted Ameyuri about her craving for deadly combat and became angry when he learned she was only eleven. He drew the Cane Sword to stop her attack, leaving them locked in a stalemate as he admitted he wanted to kill someone.
Xue Ge defeated Ameyuri Ringo in the arena after disarming and overpowering her, leaving her unconscious. Before losing consciousness, Ameyuri called them both lunatics, and Shikaku announced that Xue Ge advanced from the first group.
Xue Ge returned after defeating Ameyuri, then watched Killer B face Gari in the next match. Killer B overcame Gari’s explosion-based attacks, and Gari conceded.
After defeating Ameyuri, Xue Ge visited her in the hospital and challenged her to keep living so she could try to kill him. Ameyuri embraced the idea and vowed to find a chance to defeat him.
Xue Ge agreed to provide Orochimaru with more tissue cells after hearing his dubious explanation that Ryūchi Cave’s sages had been told about him. Meanwhile, Dragon Vein awakened and met Hagoromo, declaring that he intended to reclaim his power.
Might Guy fought Kakashi despite his injuries, then reopened the Gate of Opening to prove his strength. The chapter ended with Guy slamming Kakashi into the ground, only for Kakashi to escape with the Substitution Technique and attack from behind.
