After escaping, Danzo hurried to Hiruzen Sarutobi as fast as he could.
Hiruzen Sarutobi found the sight of the flustered Danzo quite novel. It was his first time seeing Danzo so out of sorts.
Upon arriving, Danzo said bluntly,

"I took some men to have a talk with that Su Yu earlier. After all, his teaching results have already been proven. Three Genin spent only a month under him, and their strength had already reached the level of Jonin."

"But I never expected him to attack over a disagreement, and to go straight for the kill at that!"

In just a few sentences, Danzo had established a noble image for himself while simultaneously casting Su Yu among the villains.
He shifted all the blame onto Su Yu and directly placed him in opposition to all of Konoha.
Danzo did not know whether Hiruzen Sarutobi would believe everything he said, but that no longer mattered.
A gleam of surprise appeared in Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes as he listened to Danzo's account.
