And to think he had believed those weapons were only in the military's hands.
It was almost impossible for military personnel to have deliberately leaked these weapons, so someone within Stark Industries must have been secretly selling them off.
That had been a blow to him.
During his days in captivity, he had experienced firsthand just how brutal those people were.
And for their weapons to fall into the hands of people like that was a disaster he could scarcely believe.
So he had immediately decided to address the root of the problem and shut down the weapons factories.
But there was no telling when those weapons had first started leaking out.
All he had done was shut the stable door after the horse had bolted.
Since then, he had never thought about that issue, nor had he considered how many victims had died to the weapons he manufactured.
After all, what he did not know did not exist. Though he was the mighty Iron Man, sometimes he could be weak, too.
And today, his beautiful illusion had been shattered.
This young woman was, in fact, a victim of the weapons he had manufactured.
He felt utterly awful about it.
At that moment, he no longer harbored the slightest romantic thought about this beautiful girl. All that remained was guilt and remorse.
He could easily have said that her family's deaths had nothing to do with him, that he was a victim, too.
But he could not bring himself to say it.
Because without the weapons from his Stark Industries, her family really might not have died.
