Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Armor-dependent superhero | 379 | Builds powered armor through his own intellect. After witnessing Mamaragan, researches upgrades but estimates that even doubling his strength would leave him vastly outmatched. |
| Mana and mental-power awakening | 387 | Absorbs his first Mana Orb, sharpening his senses and awakening the two foundations of magecraft. His first thirty boxes yield twenty-one Mana Orbs. |
| First spell: Fireball | 388 389 | Learns a spell whose output scales with the mana invested. At his current reserves, an all-mana Fireball is estimated to exceed a missile's power. |

| Expanded spell repertoire | 395 | Obtains blue-grade Chain Lightning and green-grade Crystal Fall, adding multi-target lightning damage and freezing-based crowd control. |
| Purple-grade lightning equipment and skill | 430 431 | After reaching ten thousand Intermediate Blind Boxes and opening one thousand Advanced Blind Boxes, gains Heart of Thunder and Forest of Thunder. |
| Tier Three — confirmed | 451 452 | Fights a fellow Third-Tier Transcendent. Condenses Forest of Thunder into a lightning spear powerful enough to injure even peak-Tier-Four Thanos if it lands directly. |
| Annihilation Domain acquired | 475 | Receives an ice-element skill from a Special-Grade Blind Box shared by Hawkeye. It brings temperatures across dozens of kilometers infinitely close to absolute zero. |
Background / History
Tony was a genius from childhood and became a billionaire inventor. Despite possessing an ordinary human body, he built the armor that allowed him to operate as Iron Man 379.
During his captivity, Tony discovered that Stark Industries weapons had reached violent groups without his knowledge. He had believed they were supplied only to the military. Upon learning of the leak, he shut down the company's weapons research, development, and manufacturing, though weapons already distributed continued to claim victims 460.
His father was one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s founders. Learning that Hydra—the organization responsible for his father's death—had extensively infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. initially made Tony furious with Nick Fury. He moderated his blame after discovering that former director Alexander Pierce was also involved 385.
Personality
Tony is confident to the point of arrogance, theatrical, and fond of provoking others. He announces his successful class change with a grand declaration and later gathers the Avengers specifically to reveal his magic and enjoy their astonishment 379 391 395 396.
Beneath that bravado, he feels a strong responsibility to protect others. Watching the Avengers fail to cover the entire battlefield during the Chitauri invasion leaves him deeply distressed. Su Yu's overwhelming intervention saves the city but also makes Tony question his own usefulness, driving him into sleepless armor research and an urgent search for greater power 379 382.
He conceals his deeper fears from most people but speaks openly with Pepper Potts. His encounter with Wanda also exposes his capacity for remorse: rather than dismissing her family's deaths as someone else's responsibility, he accepts the connection to his weapons and apologizes 379 460.
Abilities & Skills
Engineering and Technology
- Creates and upgrades the powered armor used by Iron Man 379.
- Uses JARVIS for energy analysis, surveillance access, online intelligence gathering, and threat detection 368 382 383 405.
- Retains an interest in technology after becoming a mage, although magic takes more than half his attention. By the nuclear-missile incident, he has temporarily set aside his armor while working to combine technology and magic 419 444.
Elemental Mage Physiology and Control
- Elemental manipulation: Can summon and disperse fire, wind, water, lightning, and other elements. Immediately after changing classes, his direct manipulation is weak, and he cannot yet combine two elements simultaneously 391 396.
- Flight: Uses wind elements to rise into the air and fly 444.
- Spiritual perception: Keen spiritual senses and warnings from nearby elements reveal Natasha's concealed approach while she is under enemy control 410.
- Physical strengthening: Continued elemental bathing makes his body less fragile than before 444.
- Automatic recovery: Nearby elements protect him, heal injuries, and nourish his soul. After Wanda's beating, wounds that would take an ordinary Third-Tier Transcendent days to recover from heal within minutes 460.
Fireball
- Allows Tony to control its power by choosing how much mana to expend; increasing his total mana raises its potential output 389.
- Grows from roughly head-sized before his class change to a meter across immediately afterward. He later launches a three-meter Fireball against the Mechanical War God 391 451.
- Can be dispersed back into fire elements rather than launched 391.
- An attack using all his mana leaves him vulnerable if the opponent survives or evades it 389.
Chain Lightning
- Grade: Blue 395.
- Strikes groups by bouncing between targets. Against a single enemy, it can bounce repeatedly between that opponent and Tony without harming him 395.
- Hits Ebony Maw after Hawkeye slows him with Freezing Arrows 411.
- Can be counterproductive against an electricity-absorbing opponent: the Mechanical War God's mech absorbs the attack and becomes stronger 451.
Crystal Fall
- Grade: Green 395.
- Forms a pointed ice crystal above the target, combining impact damage with freezing power.
- Can slow an opponent with cold even when the falling crystal fails to injure them 395.
Whirlwind Shield
- Grade: Green 406.
- Creates a concentrated, rapidly rotating wind barrier that pulverizes Ebony Maw's enchanted earthen spikes 406.
- Also blocks the Mechanical War God's homing lasers, though their energy visibly dents the shield 451.
- Disappears after Tony is forced to stop casting when the ground erupts beneath him 406.
Elemental Blessings
Tony layers five enhancements over himself within approximately one second during his duel with the Mechanical War God 451.
| Enhancement | Effect |
|---|---|
| Lightning Blessing: Swiftness | Sharpens thought, multiplies reaction speed, and improves coordination 451. |
| Wind Blessing: Speed | Lightens his body and increases movement speed 451. |
| Blaze Blessing: Burst | Greatly increases explosive power 451. |
| Earth Acceleration: Defense | Dramatically strengthens physical defense 451. |
| Water Blessing: Life | Nourishes vitality and accelerates recovery 451. |
- Together, the blessings let him track an opponent previously moving too quickly for him to follow 451.
- Earth-based protection limits the mech's surprise cannon strike to minor injuries, which water-based recovery almost immediately heals 452.
Forest of Thunder
- Grade: Purple 431.
- Unleashes a large-scale lightning attack resembling Su Yu's Mamaragan, but initially lacks its precise targeting and overwhelming power 431.
- Eliminates nearly ten thousand Transcendents during the tournament melee, where disqualified contestants do not truly die 447.
- Can be concentrated into a three-meter Spear of Thunder, gathering every bolt into Tony's strongest documented strike at that point 452.
- The spear can injure peak-Tier-Four Thanos despite Tony being Tier Three, but a Tier-Four opponent can prevent him from completing the attack 452.
Annihilation Domain
- An ice-element skill obtained through Hawkeye's shared tournament rewards 475.
- Forces temperatures within dozens of kilometers infinitely close to absolute zero.
- Freezes everything within the domain to powder through extreme cold 475.
Combat Limitations
- Mana management: Against Ebony Maw, Tony initially spends more than half his mana without inflicting decisive injuries. He switches to defensive movement and efficient spells to conserve his remaining reserves 410.
- Early control problems: His elemental magic causes friendly fire during the Avengers' initial attacks on Hydra bases, though practice reduces these incidents 405.
- Limited answers to specialized powers: Against Wanda's Mental Labyrinth, he lacks a suitable method to unravel the technique and prepares to overpower it with Forest of Thunder instead 461.
- Psychic vulnerability: Supergiant's attack takes control of him along with most of the assembled heroes 413.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Iron Man armor — His original means of superhero combat. Temporarily set aside while he develops a way to integrate technology and magic 379 444.
- Heart of Thunder — Purple-grade staff that amplifies magic, eases casting, and provides an especially strong boost to lightning spells. It automatically adjusts to a suitable size after binding to him 431.
- Black shaft with silver patterns, a sharp four-edged lower tip, and a fist-sized black gemstone at the top 431.
- Early blind-box equipment — His first thirty boxes produce five worn-out magic staffs and one worn-out magic apprentice robe, alongside Mana Orbs and cash 387.
Relationships
- Pepper Potts — His trusted emotional confidante. She comforts him after the invasion and reminds him that protecting the world is not a burden he must carry alone 379.
- Su Yu — Shopkeeper and source of Tony's magical advancement. Su Yu's Mamaragan inspires his pursuit of lightning magic, while the shopkeeper repeatedly teases him about his cash-filled blind boxes 386 388 431.
- Nick Fury — Ally who introduces him to the blind-box shop. Their cooperation is accompanied by sarcasm, competition over blind-box luck, and Tony's unease about Fury's developing psychic powers 379 392 394.
- Avengers — Teammates whom Tony brings to the shop and financially supports. His funding enables the others, apart from independently wealthy Thor, to buy large quantities of boxes 396 400 403.
- Wanda — Initially hates him because Stark Industries weapons destroyed her home and killed her mother. After examining his memories, she accepts his apology on behalf of herself and her brother 459 460 461.
- Thanos — Powerful adversary who challenges Tony's assumptions about alien technology. Thanos shows little personal interest in this version of Tony because of his increasing focus on magic 419.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Chitauri Invasion and Search for Power
- Witnesses Su Yu's storm annihilate the Chitauri with extraordinary precision. JARVIS estimates that the storm's stored energy is comparable to a Big Ivan detonation 368.
- Becomes consumed by his inability to protect everyone through armor alone. Fury's reports of purchasable supernatural power give him an alternative to technological upgrades 379 380 381.
- Awakens as a mage, completes the Elemental Mage class change, and reveals his new powers to the Avengers before helping them obtain their own 387 391 395 400.
Hydra and the Black Order
- Helps destroy Hydra bases while learning to control his magic 405.
- Battles Ebony Maw using Fireball, Whirlwind Shield, and lightning magic; coordinates with Hawkeye to land Chain Lightning 406 411.
- Is subsequently overwhelmed by Supergiant's psychic control 413.
- Su Yu's intervention and Tony's new magical strength remove the circumstances and motivation that would otherwise lead him to pursue Ultron 419.
Nuclear Missile and Superhuman Tournament
- Flies out to intercept a nuclear missile and redirects it upward. When its engines fail, Steve catches it; JARVIS then reports that it has become a harmless model toy 444.
- Uses Forest of Thunder to clear the massed attackers targeting the Avengers during the melee 447.
- Defeats the Mechanical War God contestant after resorting to a concentrated Forest of Thunder attack 452 461.
- Reconciles with Wanda during their duel. Although he prepares Forest of Thunder again, she ultimately concedes, and Tony is relieved to have won without using it 460 461 462.
Theme Worlds and Distortion Preparations
- Explores Su Yu's world-building interface during the game designed to torment the divided souls of the supreme leaders 469.
- Receives Annihilation Domain from one of the Special-Grade Blind Boxes Hawkeye shares with his companions 475.
- When warned of an imminent universal distortion, questions how the Avengers can efficiently save people without knowing who will be affected. His argument with Steve ends after Banner intervenes and Steve apologizes 482.
Notable Quotes
“That's a superhero's responsibility. But at least I have you, Pepper. After telling you all this, I feel much better.” 379
“Please call me Elemental Mage Tony!” 391
“Though it won't do much good, I still want to say I'm sorry!” 460
Trivia
- Tony repeatedly draws cash despite wanting supernatural items, making a billionaire's frustration with receiving money a recurring joke. Su Yu notes that cash is actually rarer than green-grade items 387 388 389.
- He initially credits his Elemental Mage class-change item to extraordinary luck, unaware that a class-change item is guaranteed within a customer's first ten Intermediate Blind Boxes 390.
