At that moment, Edward also successfully used Unrestrained to break free of the combat hypnosis. Ancient gears slowly turned in his eyes, and with the enhancement of Amplification, vast amounts of spirituality surged as he used Degradation on the Mind Dragon.
Unlike the immediate results of his previous uses of Degradation, this time Edward felt as though his opponent were an ancient, dilapidated machine, long rusted and rotten throughout, its gears and bearings jammed together and impossible to turn.
He could even faintly hear a strained creaking. He could only keep pouring in spirituality, forcibly turning those decaying gears and driving those damaged bearings.
His gaze seemed to pierce the Mind Dragon's grayish-white scales, revealing the blood and bones within him, the blood racing through his vessels, his slowly beating heart, and his countless cells contaminated by a deep-black liquid.

The gears began turning smoothly, driving the bearings and connecting the chains, setting the entire "machine" in motion-except that it was running backward.
In a single instant, the Mind Dragon's aura rapidly weakened and faded. He dropped from Sequence 2 to Sequence 3, then from Sequence 3 to Sequence 4, and was still slowly declining.
This wasn't normal!
Edward was shocked. When he had faced Zaratul, he had successfully inflicted Degradation on him, but it had only dropped him to Sequence 3 and lasted a mere two or three seconds.
Yet this Mind Dragon, both contaminated by a higher Level of Existence and possessing the Dragon King's persona, was plummeting like water through opened floodgates, dropping two Sequences in succession?
