Given Queen Mystic's questions at the last gathering, could she really have come here before and met that Evil God?
Then where had the "master" from back then gone now?
Had he died in the past?
Or had he left this place?
Or had something else happened?
Klein had no choice but to concern himself with this question. After all, he was the current master of the place Above the Gray Fog. No one could guarantee that he would not encounter whatever had happened to his predecessor-nor was he certain whether the original master would return and demand that he "return it to its rightful owner."
I'm a fake "Evil God," but the one Emperor Roselle mentioned might have been the real thing.
Klein tapped his fingers lightly against the Bronze Table, pretending to ponder while actually calming himself down.
But just then, he suddenly recalled the Stairway of Light deep within this mysterious space, which seemed to lead to heaven and vaguely corresponded to his own Sequence. The staircase seemed to have been built for Giants, and its destination was a layer of Gray-White Fog suspended in midair, seemingly supporting something.
He had once tried to climb the stairs, only to fail-though "fail" did not seem quite accurate. Rather, each time he advanced to a higher Sequence, he could climb higher up the stairs.
Judging by his visual estimate of the remaining steps, he should be able to enter that Gray-White Fog once he advanced to a Half-God. Could the disappearance of the former master Above the Gray Fog have something to do with it?
These speculations were destined to remain unanswered for now.
