Audrey persuaded Earl Hall to finance a risky supply deal, then struggled with how to balance helping Mr. Moon against helping Loen’s people as war threatened. Meanwhile, Lilith entered the Forsaken Land of the Gods with Ouroboros, while Colin Iliya prepared the City of Silver’s team to continue toward the Giant King’s Court.

• Audrey claimed the supply deal would bring a fivefold return, and Earl Hall agreed to support her after Alfred endorsed the risk.
• Alfred told Earl Hall that Feynapotter had declared war on Loen, and Audrey worried about whether to help Mr. Moon or the people of Backlund.

Lilith and Ouroboros investigated the True Creator’s madness at the Giant King’s Court and discovered a powerful being resembling Sasrir in his place. Lilith concluded that the True Creator’s other parts, including Adam, had likely left the Forsaken Land of the Gods.

• Colin told Derrick that the City of Silver’s future would be in his hands, then Lilith and Ouroboros arrived and asked to see Sveti.
• Sveti said the True Creator had become impossible to communicate with after a terrifying disturbance came from the Giant King’s Court, and Lilith left with Ouroboros to investigate.
• Lilith and Ouroboros found the Giant King’s Court filled with dead guards, marionettes, and believers before Sasrir attacked them.
• Lilith wounded Sasrir, collected a drop of his black blood, and escaped with Ouroboros after realizing he was connected to the True Creator’s madness.

Lilith warned the City of Silver that the Giant King's Court was dangerous and promised Mr. Fool would eventually take them from the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Above the Gray Fog, Klein, Azik, and Medici confronted their conflicting plans concerning Ince Zangwill, while war spread across the Northern and Southern Continents.

• Lilith told Sveti that a fragment of the Lord’s emotional consciousness had gone mad in the Giant King's Court and that the Lord’s departure might not have been voluntary.
• Lilith identified herself to Derrick as Strength and warned Colin and the City of Silver not to enter the Giant King's Court because Mr. Fool would soon be able to take them away.
• Colin asked whether the Lord they had worshipped had fallen, and Lilith told him that he had fallen but returned to life.
• Klein told Azik he wanted revenge on Ince Zangwill, and Azik agreed to help; Medici objected because he had promised to cooperate with Ince.

• Trissy entered Ruins No. 1, where Prince Grove revealed her and confronted her.
• Edessak rewrote events to save Trissy, who became a Sequence 4 Demoness of Despair and set out to destroy the mausoleum.
• Klein encountered Zaratul, but the Traveler marionette used an unknown ability to grant him Sequence 3 strength, allowing him to escape the church and fight back.
• Edessak tried to make Trissy flee, but the Quill of Alzuhod warned that a powerful entity was closing in and urged him to leave Backlund.

George III's Black Emperor ascension failed when Roselle resurrected and reclaimed the Uniqueness and Beyonder Characteristics, then killed George III. Bernadette was badly wounded by William Augustus I, and Amon emerged from the Box of the Great Old Ones, leaving her facing danger from both men.

• Trissy abandoned her attempt at George III's mausoleum, and Prince Grove confirmed that she had left.
• George III began his Black Emperor ascension, but Roselle's resurrection reclaimed the Uniqueness and Sequence 1 characteristics, causing George III to lose control.

• Bernadette resisted the Hidden Sage’s attempt to descend into her and put on [Pale Death] to avoid becoming his vessel.
• Roselle appeared, healed Bernadette, and killed William Augustus I by distorting his body and crushing his Sequence 1 Beyonder Characteristic.
• Bernadette embraced Roselle and asked where Mr. Sparrow had gone and what he and Roselle had planned.
• Roselle suggested finding Mr. Sparrow together, then learned Bernadette had studied Chinese and angrily decided to confront Edward.

George III’s attempt to become the Black Emperor ended in his assassination, while Roselle returned and successfully advanced to Black Emperor. Adam then brought Amon and Lilith to the former Dragon palace, the Hall of Truth.

• Adam told Lilith he opposed Edward because Edward’s advancement had blocked the Lord of the Mysteries and God Almighty pathways from becoming pillars, and admitted he had meant to make Edward accompany him rather than truly harm him.
• Amon sensed that an imprisoned avatar had been released, and the surrounding area around Backlund began to distort as a new Black Emperor was born.
• George III exploded during his speech at Anniversary Square, and Audrey, Fors, Xio, and Leonard learned that he had been assassinated; Will Auceptin told Audrey that Klein Sparrow had asked him to watch over her and identified him as Edward.
• Amon announced that George III had failed his advancement and Emperor Roselle had been resurrected; Edessak died peacefully after hearing the news.

In the Hall of Truth, Amon and Edward turned Adam’s plan around, forcing Adam to accept the Ancient Sun God’s humanity taking the lead in their fusion, while Amon departed and warned Edward they might meet again over the Lord of the Mysteries.

• Roselle and Bernadette found Edessak and Helena dead in an inn, and Bernadette explained that George III had made his children expendable after they learned his secret.
• Roselle located Adam and the others, but the Evernight Goddess brought him to the Astral World and delayed him from intervening, confirming that Adam and Amon had made their move against Edward and the others.
• Lilith transformed into her Gorgon Mythical Creature Form and tried to use the Mirror World to release the sealed Oldest One, but Amon stole her thoughts and Adam expelled her from the Hall of Truth.
