Chapter Summaries

Edward joined Adam’s gathering in the Church of Bones, where Adam tasked the group with correcting the tide of the times and Hermes offered them an early chance to study the Blasphemy Slate. After the gathering, Hermes told Edward that Adam wanted him to pray to the True Creator, leaving Edward unsure what the request meant.

• Edward attended the gathering as Number Eight, and Hunter revealed that he had survived while Hermes confirmed that Intis was not dead and Coward was dead.
• Adam said the tide of the times had deviated beyond control and ordered the group to return it to its original course, then left Hermes to manage the work.
• Hermes explained that the correction would require a series of operations and let the group study the Blasphemy Slate ahead of schedule.
• Edward memorized the Sequence 3 and Sequence 2 formulas and rituals for the Spectator Pathway before Hermes ended the gathering.
• Hermes asked Edward about dealing with a Mind Dragon, but Edward said he wanted a Planeswalker Beyonder Characteristic instead of a Dream Weaver one.
• Hermes relayed Adam’s request for Edward to pray to the True Creator and said the payment had already been given in advance.

• Back at Sefirah Castle, Edward asked Amon what Adam might want from the True Creator, and Amon warned him to watch out for Adam.

• After two days at sea, Roselle and the Black Throne's crew landed on an island to replenish their fresh water.
• A bell rang from a strange church on the island, and Roselle decided to investigate the priest who had summoned them.

Edward visited Will to ask about the hidden events beneath Trier and learned that Cheek’s descent, Lilith, and the Mother Goddess of Depravity were involved. He also learned that the woman who took Will’s die was a failed vessel created for Lilith, while the truth behind the Intis affair remained unresolved.

• Edward returned from Mars and visited Will at his family’s villa, explaining that a curse had turned him into a child.
• Will told Edward that Adam had only fanned the flames of Vermonda Sauron’s scheme and that the Seven Deities had been watching the ruins beneath Trier.
• Will explained that Lilith used part of the Primordial Demoness’s authority to defeat Cheek’s flesh-and-blood vessel after the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s corruption suddenly withdrew.
• Edward realized the corruption’s withdrawal coincided with his distant attack on the Mother Goddess of Depravity, but he remained unsure whether their actions were connected or arranged by the Russian Priest.

Edward disguised himself as Will Auceptin to approach Krismona at No. 15 Jade Street, while Krismona questioned Arrodes about Lilith and the visitor. Arrodes confirmed the visitor was the same person who had impersonated Zaratul and revealed that he had come looking for Lilith, but Krismona still did not know whether he posed a danger to her mother.

• Edward failed to divine whether the woman in the black robe still lived at No. 15 Jade Street, so he went there disguised as a child using Will Auceptin's appearance.
• Edward broke a window with a ball and used the accident to meet Krismona, who returned his ball and offered him homemade ice cream.
• Krismona used her charm ability on Edward, but he resisted it with Unrestrained and left with the ice cream.
• Krismona asked Arrodes about Lilith, and the mirror said Lilith was safe but had gone deep into the Mirror World, where Arrodes could no longer follow her in real time.

He then questioned Krismona about Lilith’s history and learned that Lilith had made an agreement with Amon’s older brother to help her switch to Red Priest.

• Edward asked Arrodes how to obtain the Planeswalker and Miracle Invoker Beyonder Characteristics, and Arrodes suggested trading with the Evernight Church or seeking Zaratul.
• Arrodes revealed that Zaratul was aboard a ship in the Berserk Sea, but it could not pinpoint his location because of his anti-divination abilities.

The chapter ended in the year 1360, with Lilith asking Emlyn to lead people in the Southern Continent against colonial rule.

• Krismona told Edward that Lilith intended to switch to the Red Priest pathway, and Edward worried about how he could reach Sequence 0 in time to help her.
• Krismona explained why Lilith and she were still in Trier and said they might move to Feynapotter after Lilith returned.

• Lilith persuaded Emlyn to take responsibility for the Sea God Church and sent him to his destination, then dispatched Danitz to become the church's High Priest and organize resistance to colonization.
• Lilith declared that war was approaching and set her sights on the Northern Continent.
• Cattleya gave Bernadette a family photograph recovered by Edwina, and Bernadette asked her to find out how it had reached Edwards's family.

Audrey questioned whether her urge to reconnect with Klein had been planted by a Psychological Suggestion, while Klein returned to Backlund and discovered Ince Zangwill had badly injured Dunn. In a past scene, Roselle left a church shaken after a priest revealed that he did not belong to this world.

• Audrey realized her idea of reuniting Klein with his lost acquaintance might have come from a Psychological Suggestion, but Susie calmed her before she lost control.
• Several dozen days later, Klein returned to Backlund and went to visit Dunn, whom he found unconscious and badly injured.

Edward visited the Earth Mother's Divine Kingdom in the Astral World and learned that the River of Eternal Darkness's tributaries had dried up, leaving the Evernight Goddess's plans uncertain. He returned to Sefirah Castle to rest, while Amon worried Edward might advance to Door; Edward later woke in the middle of the night.

• Edward met the Earth Mother Lilith in her Divine Kingdom and discussed her isolation, the Mother Goddess of Depravity, and the Primordial Demoness Cheek.
• The Earth Mother explained that the Seven Deities had not stopped Cheek because provoking her risked irrational actions and a breach of the barrier.

• The Goddess’s power erased Edward’s body, but he awoke in the black town and carved a greeting to Zhou Mingrui into the statue before escaping with Homecoming.
• Edward returned to find an invitation to Roselle’s banquet, while Dubois revealed that he planned to advance to Psychiatrist that night.
• At Roselle’s banquet, Bernadette asked Edward to take her out, and Edward spotted King Doloren and considered meddling in their relationship.
• Roselle discussed expanding steam railways and his military appointment with Doloren, who asked for a private room to rest.
