He was traveling with Hagrid partly to bring him back to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary on the return trip, and partly because he missed Hogwarts and his family. He had simply taken some leave to go home again. After all, with the Dragon Eggs recovered, he had already met his work quota for the month.
