St. Mungo's was a hospital for magical maladies and injuries, so naturally, none of its Healers possessed the skills to trim and stitch mangled flesh with tweezers and pliers. Its operating rooms therefore had another name-the Isolation Treatment Rooms. Though they were called treatment rooms,
they were actually no different from the other rooms. Their main purpose was to protect the privacy of patients and Healers.
Miriam Strout stole a glance at Chet Brian across from her. Setting aside his handsome looks, all she had noticed so far were the large dark circles fatigue had left under the wizard's eyes. She had yet to see anything special about his magic.
After she signed the Confidentiality Contract, the director had made one thing clear: he had signed the Consent Form because of Chet Brian, not Albus Dumbledore. "Brian commands an exceptionally unusual kind of magic, and he's quick-witted, too. If anyone in this world can help our long-term patients recover, I'm afraid he's the only one."
Straw knew the director rarely expressed such admiration for anyone, let alone used a restrictive word like "only." Ashamed of her earlier presumptuous speculation, she had then grown interested in the "exceptionally unusual magic" Brian commanded. According to the director, it was even a special kind of magic that could be put into a potion bottle.
Just then, she saw Brian take out a long, rectangular box and gently remove a bottle of brilliantly silver potion, placing it in a recess in the isolation room's table.
Straw could not help exclaiming softly, "Oh, that potion looks very hot!"
She immediately noticed a large mass of rainbow-colored bubbles above the liquid in the bottle. They were making a rapid series of popping sounds and appeared to be boiling vigorously.
