Harry vs. Draco Again

Over the holiday that had just ended, Harry had often practiced with his Older Cousin to improve his reflexes.

Their method was to find an open space and have Dudley throw baseballs at him.

At first, Harry had been completely unable to dodge them, and his Older Cousin's baseballs had left him yelping in pain.

Gradually, though, he had begun to react in time, and the distance Dudley threw from had shrunk from twenty meters to fifteen, then ten.

Before Harry left for the Burrow, that distance had dropped to six meters.

At that range, however, Harry's chances of dodging were still very low.

Draco and Harry now stood roughly six meters apart on the stage, a distance at which Harry would have some difficulty dodging.

And magic traveled somewhat faster than the baseballs Dudley threw.

But just as Quirrell had mocked Harry for back then, Draco did not know how to conceal his gestures when casting spells to hide the direction of his magic.

For instance, in the final stage of the spell he was using now, his wand remained pointed straight at his target.

The spell would travel along the straight line extending from his wand, so it was still possible to dodge if one anticipated it.

As the youngest and most gifted Seeker Gryffindor, or even all of Hogwarts, had seen in nearly fifty years, Harry had first-rate reflexes and speed. With his preparations already made, he dodged the spell with ease.

Seeing Harry dodge his spell so easily, Draco could hardly believe his eyes. His mouth hung wide open, his jaw almost dropping to the floor.

Harry could not hide the smug smile on his face, either, but he was not about to go easy on Draco just because he was standing there in a daze.
