After Harry taught them a little trick, the vast majority of the young wizards improved at least a little. For some, it was obvious; for others, less so, but most of them really did make a little progress.
This immediately won over some of the young wizards who had come despite having a few doubts about Harry's teaching.
Then, very soon, all the young wizards stared, dumbfounded, at one person-a girl.
"Wow, this is really nice." Luna watched happily as the silver rabbit hopped back and forth in front of her.
Yes, Luna had cast a Corporeal Patronus, becoming the first young wizard in the room after Harry to give her Patronus a physical form. This astonished everyone present.
Harry had not paid much attention to Luna's soul projection or magic layer earlier. However, the strange state of Ron's soul projection had left him somewhat shaken, and he had not activated Magic Perception again, so he was not sure exactly how strong Luna's soul and magic were.
Still, Luna had been standing not far from him earlier without attracting his attention, so there probably had not been anything particularly unusual about her.
Yet she had suddenly managed to produce a corporeal Patronus. What was going on? Had Luna thought of something especially happy and happened to understand the meaning of protection?
That was the only explanation Harry could settle on.
With Luna's example before them, the young wizards grew even more enthusiastic about learning and practicing.
Unfortunately, however, even among the seventh-year students, only Cedric had progressed from dense luminous mist to the Shield Charm and shown faint signs of going further—on one attempt, his Shield Charm had become exceptionally bright and seemed about to change shape, but he had still fallen a little short.
