Harry had rarely used Magic Perception over the past two years.
He was honestly a little scared.
Using this ability made it far too easy for things to go wrong, and things really had gone wrong before. Harry could hardly help being afraid.
But now, he simply could not resist.
He figured nothing should go wrong with Dumbledore beside him. With that thought, Harry activated Magic Perception once again.
Everything before his eyes changed in an instant.
The vast Underground Palace suddenly became crowded.
That was normal. Wizards alone took up very little space, but everyone here today was a powerful wizard.
Their magical flames each rose several meters high. Behind most of them stood equally tall, almost tangible soul projections.
This made the Underground Palace several times more crowded all at once.
The wizards' magical flames varied in color, but most were gold, black, or shades between the two.
Through his own research and deductions, Harry had concluded that when wizards used dark magic with malicious intent to extinguish a life, a black thread would be added to their magical flames and soul projections.
These lives were not limited to humans or intelligent creatures. Any creature possessing a certain degree of self-awareness counted. The more intelligent the creature, the darker the black thread would be.
Well, Flobberworms definitely did not count. (Flobberworm: I've fucking had enough. Am I the only one in the wizard world who gives without getting anything back?)
But using protective magic would cancel out one black thread.
Thus, magical flames and soul projections could actually reveal a wizard's use of dark magic to kill, as well as their use of protective magic.
Harry had not looked at the people around him for a long time, but he reckoned his own magical flames should still be
