On the roof of the New York Sanctum stood a bald woman in monk's robes, holding a golden shield in each hand.
She was the Sorcerer Supreme, The Ancient One.
"This is the best chance to test them. I don't have much time left!"
The Ancient One murmured under her breath.
As the wielder of the Eye of Agamotto, she could see into the past and future, including Doctor Strange's arrival and her own death.
With such a major crisis unfolding in New York, she also wanted to see how the Kamar-Taj sorcerers she had trained would respond-and whether they could handle it.
"This young man is impressive! Is he really just an apprentice?"
The Ancient One's eyes flickered as though she had spotted someone, and a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Was there something else?"
Captain America turned back to Wang Yang curiously.
"I haven't given Hulk back to you yet!"
Wang Yang couldn't help chuckling.
"Oh, right!"
Captain America nodded.
He had just seen Hulk fall into a golden ring of light and disappear.
He had no idea where Hulk had gone, but on a battlefield like this, Hulk was a vital fighting force.
Wang Yang waved a hand, and a huge ring of light appeared in the sky.
An enormous green figure dropped out of it.
Boom!
A deafening crash rang out from the ground.
Hulk roared after landing, but unlike before, when he had wanted to tear Wang Yang apart at the sight of him, he now seemed to shy away.
After all, free fall was no fun.
Captain America had no idea what Hulk had experienced.
Even someone as wild as Hulk could actually feel fear.
After all, Hulk dared to charge in and take on even the most terrifying opponents, yet now he was this afraid.
It was simply unbelievable.
Wang Yang, however, found it perfectly natural. Even the greatest sorcerer in the Nine Realms had been reduced to a sorry state by free fall, let alone Hulk, a personality driven entirely by anger.
With all that endless free fall, Hulk couldn't control himself. Of course he would be afraid.
"All right, tell your friend that what happened just now was only a misunderstanding!"
"You keep fighting. We need to get back to our fight, too!"
As Wang Yang spoke, he prepared to leave with Kamar-Taj and the others.
Just then, Wang Yang noticed that the entire sky seemed to darken.
He looked up.
An enormous alien warship was charging straight toward them.
Ahead of it, Thor was fleeing at top speed.
The enormous alien warship fired terrifying energy weapons at irregular intervals.
If Thor hadn't been so fast, he might have been shot straight out of the sky.
After all, it was an alien warship. As a Chitauri landing craft, it naturally carried countless powerful, advanced weapons.
Laser cannons covered its entire body. It was practically a mobile weapon of war.
Although the Avengers were immensely powerful, the landing craft still demonstrated formidable might.
Its weapons fired continuously.
The God of Thunder attacked while dodging the weapons mounted on it, looking rather harried.
"It's a Chitauri warship!"
At the sight, Kamar-Taj couldn't help panicking.
Such an enormous weapon of war made him feel an immense sense of pressure.
"Hulk, quick! Get up there and smash it!"
Captain America's expression grew grim as he watched.
Hulk had been thoroughly frustrated by his free fall earlier. Now he had the perfect outlet for his anger.
He immediately launched himself upward, leaped onto a nearby building, and grabbed at it.
The building's concrete crumbled like foam beneath his grip. Then he leaped again, landing on the warship.
"What a powerful monster!"
At the sight, a sorcerer behind Wang Yang couldn't help exclaiming.
The other sorcerers standing behind Wang Yang also voiced their amazement.
This time, Wang Yang nodded in agreement.
After all, to Hulk, reinforced concrete was practically as flimsy as scraps of paper.
But this was no time for them to stand around watching. Wang Yang noticed another alien warship flying toward them.
After all, they were the only people on the street who could still stand there calmly watching the action.
To the Chitauri, that made them enemies.
The alien warship opened its enormous maw, and a terrifying light shone within, carrying tremendous destructive power.
"Wang Yang, that Chitauri warship has spotted us!"
Kamar-Taj stared nervously up at the sky.
"I know!"
Wang Yang nodded and replied helplessly.
The tremendous destructive power unleashed by such an enormous warship could probably wipe out a vast area.
A blue light was already gathering inside the enormous alien warship, ready to blast outward.
Clearly, this was some sort of main cannon.
That was why even someone as powerful as the God of Thunder couldn't confront it head-on.
If that power struck its target, even Hulk would probably be injured.
But magic had an absolute advantage of its own.
"Rings of Raggadorr!"
Wang Yang clapped his hands together and spoke the incantation. A two-meter-wide shield formed before them, with countless runes arranged within it, making the entire shield incredibly thick.
"Holy shit!"
The sorcerers who witnessed this couldn't help looking stunned.
"Are those really still the Rings of Raggadorr?"
Even the ever-refined Kamar-Taj couldn't help swearing.
Perhaps the spells Wang Yang had used earlier could be accepted. After all, they were advanced magic.
But the Rings of Raggadorr were a spell he had always been quite familiar with.
He had always considered himself skilled with the Rings of Raggadorr, yet they could actually take on a form like this.
The Rings of Raggadorr were supposed to be nothing more than an enhanced Magic Shield.
Such a basic spell had virtually no room for improvement, yet this was utterly absurd. The spell had become something like a city wall a meter thick.
Kamar-Taj had truly never imagined that the Rings of Raggadorr could be used this way.
It made Kamar-Taj feel as though all his years studying magic had been wasted.
Not only could he not compete in advanced magic, he couldn't even match Wang Yang in ordinary spells.
While Kamar-Taj wrestled with his complicated feelings, the sorcerers behind him all looked shocked at the sight.
"Wow, are those the Rings of Raggadorr? That's incredible!"
"The Rings of Raggadorr can be used like that? I've really learned something today!"
"Why are Sorcerer Wang Yang's Rings of Raggadorr different?"
"Why can I only make the Rings of Raggadorr the size of a washbasin?"
"..."
The sorcerers broke into a flurry of discussion after seeing Wang Yang's spell.
Kamar-Taj couldn't help smiling bitterly. They had actually judged Wang Yang by the standards of an ordinary sorcerer. That was their greatest mistake.
