The starry expanse of the universe was magnificent, but Betty grew bored with it after a few days. Every time she woke up, the same scene hung overhead. Even the most beautiful stars grew dull if she kept looking at them.
Fortunately, after several days of spaceflight, Red Queen had discovered an inhabited region, and Karn and the others had now reached its vicinity.
"Looks like we've run into a little trouble. Don't tell me this is Asgard, at the very top of the Nine Realms."
Watching more and more ships on the radar closing in around them, Karn's expression darkened slightly. This was what happened when they wandered through space without coordinates, like headless flies, ending up somewhere without even knowing where it was.
Before long, several hundred oddly shaped warships surrounded Karn's spacecraft. They did not attack immediately, but their encirclement was hardly friendly.
A trace of worry crossed Betty's face as she asked, "Karn, they aren't going to attack us, are they?"
"It's all right. I can protect you."
Karn reassured Betty. Then the spacecraft suddenly received a call request. Once he accepted, Red Queen projected a figure whose attire matched the Asgardians in Karn's memory.
"Outsider, where did you come from? What is your purpose in approaching Asgard?"
Karn told him, "I'm from Earth. I ended up in Asgard by accident through a space jump."
"From Earth?"
The Asgardian in the projection looked puzzled and surprised. "Since when did Earth have space-jump technology? Are you really from Earth?"
"There are only twenty-two people aboard my ship. And before I left, a hammer that nobody could lift suddenly fell in New Mexico, in the United States on Earth."
At those words, the Asgardian in the projection froze briefly. Clearly, they all knew about Thor's banishment.
