When Bane finally delivered that declaration of fate, Batman ran backward without a second thought.
It seemed he had no intention of facing his formidable opponent head-on.
Naturally, Bane would not let that exposed back escape, and he picked up his heels in pursuit.
He was much faster than Batman and soon closed the distance again, earning himself the privilege of receiving a "throwables gift package."
Flashbangs, Smoke Bombs, Adhesive Explosives, and the Battle Armor's built-in Interceptor Jamming Missiles-at the very limits of range, Batman performed a flowing sequence of evasive turns and throws. His speed never diminished as the torque of his hips and ankles turned him into a spinning little top.
His exquisite throwing skills even left Thomas Wayne staring from his hiding place in the distant bushes.
"It's only been a few days! How did this kid get better at throwing things than me?"
But that was not the key issue.
A slightly weaker opponent might have been slowed by the projectiles filling the air, but unfortunately, Batman was facing Bane.
Yet Bane obligingly played along. Though he could have taken the projectiles with his body, he carefully dodged every one, displaying dazzling footwork amid the chaotic barrage of junk.
Overwhelming strength, caution and cunning, intelligence, an iron will, and mastery of all manner of martial arts-Bane now possessed every quality a powerful fighter should have. Calling him the pinnacle of enhanced humanity would have been no exaggeration.
Unless Qin Wei brought out some superpowers, defeating Bane was almost impossible.
This was the grand gift Joker had prepared for him: increasingly monstrous enemies whose pressure would force him, little by little, onto Batman's destined path.
Batman exhausted all his projectiles in just two or three seconds. When he turned around, a fist came
